Description To celebrate the recently released Persona 3 Reload which I finished playing a few days ago, I decided to draw a series of fan art depicting all members of the Specialised Extracurricular Execution Squad: this is the sixth of the drawings, depicting member number 4, Takeba Yukari. This series serves also as part of my ink practice - and as an excuse to fanboy about Persona 3.

Takeba Yukari back when I first played Persona 3 felt like she disappears from view after Yakushima - she still is very relevant throughout the story, of course, but it often felt like she acts mostly just as part of the disjointed collective that is SEES for most of the story except January. Her own experiences and opinions became clear only in Episode Aigis - and this is another of the reasons why I always felt FES' "epilogue" was very necessary to fully understand the story of Persona 3. Persona 3 Reload fixed this and many other issues I felt with the narrative by taking us through the whole process of SEES growing into a united team, and also letting us see the special bond that united the Class 2-F trio. Thus, now Yukari is never far from view, and I could always see and understand Yukari's unique perspective on the unfolding events — and also gain newfound insight into why Yukari acted the way she did in Episode Aigis.

This piece is part of my attempt to address all the shortcomings I found in the preceding Junpei piece, alongside the upcoming Junpei redo. More care was taken to try to maximise the "strengths of the ink medium" while avoiding the pitfalls that I detected in the Junpei failure - especially the clumsy hatching. I feel like I am finally exiting the "initial experimentation" phase of my ink journey — which would mean that, assuming I continue on the current trajectory, this SEES-themed ink study would successfully accomplish its goals.

Drawn with Sakura Micron pens (08, 05, 01, 005 pen tips), Sakura brush pen, and Sakura White Gelly Roll pen on B5 paper.
