Description photography by me:

model:

...in my ongoing endeavours to get photographers/artists to pose for me.

Joh is a photographer, painter and designer from Switzerland. Check out her deviant-art page.

I recently traveled to Europe with my wife and the opportunity presented itself to stop over in Zurich; we shot this in our hotel room.

Theme: Joh is fascinated by the concept of balance - how "opposites"/"extremes" create balance. Even on a personal level we are (all of us) a series of contradictions...serious/playful, awake/asleep, realist/dreamer etc

Heh... fun concept of course.

Certainly a good shoot, although there's nothing else that captures that amazing lighting you achieved in 'jo 2'.

ah yes, that's a style thing - Jo 2 is not my typical exposure level. I've been told that I sometimes stray too close to under-exposing/low-key...it's difficult to judge these things. I go through phases when I love high-key/bright images, and other times when I tend towards the other extreme. I guess the trick is to recognise the situations in which the one or the other is more appropriate.

Awesome concept, tip: take the blue marks off the model's legs.

nah - Joh's a painter and photographer, not a model. These shoots with other artists aim to be more portraiture than glamour.

The bruises are from a home-renovation project that she was busy with - I left them because they are authentic and contradict the cliche that attractive women should look and act like porcelain dolls
