A while ago I bought this design from Bronze-Haifisch and while I've done work with it, I'm only now getting to the reference.

Black Opal is attached to their purpose and the idea of serving Homeworld. In that way they can't let go and are just kind of lost because of everything that happened. They don't regret running off, but sometimes they wonder what they'd be doing had they not run off. Due to their attachment though, Black Opal's regeneration isn't much different than her Homeworld uniform. They hide it with a poncho to avoid other gems among the colony they now call home from seeing it. If they figured them out, then they risk being poofed or shattered because no one likes the Diamonds there. There's a lot of anxiety about it so Black Opal just tries to hide it as much as possible.
