Description

When Rocksteady revealed in full detail how the new Batmobile in 'Batman: Arkham Knight'
the first words that popped in my mind (I'me not kidding) was: "Hol..Ley..S#%*!"

Seriously. being an armored vehicle that's part Sportcar, Part Tank is awesome enough
(THIS Batmobile makes the cop car crushing "Tumbler" in the Chris Nolan films
seem more like the 1955 Lincoln Futura that Adam West and Burt Ward used in the 1960s Batman TV show.)

but, giving it a 'Battle Mode?!' there isn't a word in the english dictionary that can properly describe how awesome that is.

Specs provided by the Batmobile Trailer of Arkham Knight reveal that the Battle Mode's weapons are as followed.

 .60mm Cannon.

  Ammunition Type: Kinetic Energy Penetrator.

Effective Limit: 820mm of Steel Armor.

 .Vulcan Gun.

  Ammunition Type: Armor-Piercing Incendiary.

  Purpose: Anti-Tank/Surface-to-Air Combat.

 .Missile Barrage

  Warhead: 2kg Blast-Fragmentation

  Guidence: Laser +GPS

Note: Simultaneous Targeting of up to Six Hostiles.

 .Riot Suppressor

  Ammunition: Non-Lethal Slam Rounds

  Slam Rounds: Medium-Velocity Flexible Polymer

Note: Immobilize Combatants with Minimum Long-Term Trauma.

a later video recently released showed gameplay,
and, while in Battle Mode, the Batmobile can strafe around in any given direction (hence while the wheels are spread out.)

so, yeah..I definitely want one of those.

No, thank you! Compared to the 89's Batmobile, this looks butt-ugly.

Then I recommend you watch this video, if you haven't already: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLGCrg…

It's gameplay footage from Batman: Arkham Knight that was shown at E3.
and, features at least five minutes of gameplay (included Batmobile driving, and Battle Mode combat.)

Obviously, this isn't finalized (they delayed release to 2015) but, it's impressive footage none-the-less.

Because the Batmobile is the most awesome car in existence.

MetroXLR In reply to kungfu-blaziken [2014-08-23 02:24:52 +0000 UTC]

True.

Wonder Woman may have an 'invisible jet' (and, Superman can FLY.)
but, nothing can top Batman's Batmobile.

Heck, mane other superheroes often copy Batman when it comes to a cool car (Mister Incredibe's "Incredibile", remember?)

but, hey. as Batman lacks superpowers
his vehicles need to be state-of-the-art, and nigh-indestructible.

The Batmobile is the kind of car that makes Optimus Prime say: "D*MN."
so, yes. it is the most awesome car in existence, as you said.

That idea isn't anything new. ALOT of people like the idea of a Batmobile Transformer.

and, while fans do most of it in fanart (search DA, and you'll find ALOT of artwork of the subject)
the Batmobile transforming into a robot HAS been done in canon Batman fiction by DC.

I know that the Batmobile in 'Batman: the Brave and the Bold' transformed into ALOT of things.
and, a battle robot was just one of them:   fortresstakes.files.wordpress.…

The main difference being that it's still not an ACTUAL Cybertronian, just advanced tech.
He's Batman!  He could pull a lightsaber out of nowhere, and no one would argue.

I wonder how much this cost to build. Did Lucius Fox help since he usually builds some of Batman's stuff? Also I bet Batman ordered these parts seperately and under different names to keep suspicion out of the way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MetroXLR In reply to The--Predator [2014-08-22 00:18:16 +0000 UTC]

By now, Bruce is real good at getting by with stuff like this without anyone noticing anything
(even more when in one DC story, Bruce Wayne "revealed" he was secretly funding "Batman" in the 'Batman Incorporated' story arc.)

As for the more broader question: Yes, Lucius Fox (head of WayneTECH) did assist Batman when it came to the technology.
Still, I wouldn't sell Bruce short: Lucius provides the tech, while Bruce customizes it to his liking.

It stands to reason this Batmobile was born from various other pieces of technology cobbled together..just like the Batsuit itself.

I can't really make a guess on how much it all costs. but, one thing is for sure: It's all going to a good cause, so it's money well spent.

ACTUALLY, the "Vulcan Cannon" is a real, actual weapon. Not a work of fiction that only exists in the DC Universe.

dragonslayer32294 In reply to MetroXLR [2014-08-23 05:09:40 +0000 UTC]

They can try, but Rocksteady set the standards pretty high with the Batmobile. (Much like they did with superhero games in general.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MetroXLR In reply to dragonslayer32294 [2014-08-23 05:43:54 +0000 UTC]

Indeed.

Before Rocksteady did 'Arkham Asylum', Batman never did very well in videogames in general.
These days, most people have forgotten about all those "bad" Batman Games,
and usually think of the Arkham titles when someone brings up the subject of Batman Videogames.

I have noticed that Beenox has been imitating Rocksteady with their Spider-Man games lately.

dragonslayer32294 In reply to MetroXLR [2014-08-23 06:20:57 +0000 UTC]

Well, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are both considered to be the best video games based on a comic book superhero, and fans have responded very well to the gameplay of the Arkham series. So it makes sense that other video game companys are following Rocksteady's example.

Not that this isn't rockingly awesome, but isn't it kinda contradictory to Batman's MO to have such destructive weapons on his car?

EpicCrasher In reply to sureshot9593 [2014-08-20 17:17:46 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MetroXLR In reply to EpicCrasher [2014-08-20 17:27:16 +0000 UTC]

Plus, I saw in the gameplay video that Batman only used his more destructive weapons
if it is confirmed that his targets in question are 'unmanned drones', and not real people.

in fact, he may only use the 'Riot Suppressor' on actual people,
and, leave his other weapons to tanks and such.

MetroXLR In reply to sureshot9593 [2014-08-20 17:17:09 +0000 UTC]

I just wrote what I read, pal.
any questions and concerns on the subject matter should be taken with the writers and developers of the game.

BUT, in retrospect..I don't think it's entirely out-of-character for Batman to be armed with such things.
apart from the usual criminals, Batman DOES encounter supervillains who can take a lot of punishment.

and, on another note, the more destructive weapons could also be used for clearing environmental obstacles as well.

Besides..I think we all know that Batman used 'rubber bullets' in all his so-called guns.

MetroXLR In reply to PurfectPrincessGirl [2014-08-20 17:21:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, after having lost the previous model by plowing Bane into the river at Arkham Island, Batman HAD to get himself a new car.
and, much like in 'The Batman', as long as you are building a new Batmobile..why not make it 'better' than the last one?

In fact, in the comic book 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies'
there is a part of the Batcave that is like a "parking garage", where all the previous incarnations of the Batmobile are kept
(from the Tim Burton version, to the model from the 1960s TV series. they were ALL there.)

Apart from being the World's Greatest Detective..Batman is quite the mechanic, as well.

MetroXLR In reply to PurfectPrincessGirl [2014-08-23 06:05:50 +0000 UTC]

Well, Bruce certainly doesn't spend his free time surfing the internet.
he takes his job as Gotham's Guardian VERY seriously, and hardly ever leaves that cave of his.

Ironically, he treats his persona as Bruce Wayne being his "alter ego", while Batman is his true identity.
you know.."Bruce Wayne is the mask, and Batman is his real face." that sort of thing.

he plays the "rich, spoiled party boy" when he needs to.
but, unless he's getting work done as Batman..he isn't satisfied with himself.

It's just like Bruce said in that one "future" episode of The Batman: "The mission is NEVER over."
