I had given some advice to about designing his OC Takka,
an inventor and a childhood friend of Korra who she reunites with in Republic city
He asked me to do all full body version, so I did
btw he does have second hand but I was too lazy to draw it
[MetroXLR99 Description]
No doubt about it, draws Avatar OC's ALOT better than I can
(the rouch sketch that I did for this character didn't even come CLOSE to this.)
Anyways..
Takka was an OC that I created way back when 'The Legend of Korra' first premeired on April 14th, 2012.
the reasons being that I liked Korra as a character..and, I wasn't sure that Mako was right for her.
so, being creative. I created Takka, a character who I felt would be the right kind of guy for my second favorite Avatar
(in case you are wondering, my FIRST favorite is Avatar Kyoshi. you DON'T wanna mess with either of them)
Takka's backstory is he is biracial. while born into the Southern Water Tribe,
he is only HALF Water Tribe from his father's side. his mother is from the Fire Nation (Ember Island to be precise.)
This was sort of a nod to "Zutara" fans, and their liking of Water/Fire babies.
though, Takka didn't have the luxury of a 'loving family.'
his mother, Inza, didn't survive his birth. and, his father, Karnac, suffered a mental breakdown
and decided to shift the blame of his wife's death on his son, rather than accept it and move on.
Takka met Korra when they were three (one full year before she discovered that she was the new Avatar)
and, Korra tended to act as Takka's bodyguard of sorts. protecting him from bullies who would otherwise pick on him.
When Korra was taken away to train under the White Lotus protection
Takka had to stay with his Aunt and Uncle in the Fire Nation for his own protection
(as Karnac's abusive nature was found out by Korra's parents, and Tonraq doubted that banishment would be enough to protect his daughter's friend.)
Takka spent the next twelve-to-thirteen years on Ember Island.
where he discovered a skill for building things, and decided to go to Republic City to make a living as an Inventor.
more often than not, Takka's inventions tend to backfire on him.
causing grief for more than a few people, and getting Takka well aquainted with Chief Lin Beifong as well.
One year after Takka first came to Republic City..Korra arrives to learn Airbending from Tenzin.
the two eventually reunite, and reconcile their earlier friendship.
because of Takka's status as a non-bender who was abused by his waterbending father
Takka became a target by the revolutionary Amon (though, Amon's intention was to recruit Takka into the Equalists.)
while Takka acknowledged that most benders abused their power..he couldn't condone Amon's actions, either
(he especially rejected Amon and the Equalists when he learned of what they had done/planned to do to Korra.)
It was the aftermath of Korra's battle against the Equalists that made Takka realize
that his friendship with Korra had evolved to the point that he may care for her romantically.
though, due to Takka low self-esteem, he doubted that Korra would ever see him as more than just a friend
and, assumed that she would settle with someone like Mako (who Takka doubted he could "compete" with)
though, unknown to either of them..Takka was in reality the reincarnation of Magnum
a close friend and husband of Avatar Kyoshi (one of Korra's past lives)
so, when Korra did discover Takka's secret romantic feelings (upon finding a betrothal necklace that he had carved)
she naturally accepted these feelings, and went to great lengths to save him when he was brainwashed by a half-demon from another world.
After the Harmonic Convergance that saw the Spirit World being open to the mortal plain
Takka was one of the many non-benders who attained the power to Airbend.
Takka gladly dedicated himself to the Air Nomad culture.
Takka is also part of the "Metroverse" (a crossover fanon of my own creation)
where he works for the inter-dimensional idealist Helix as a scientific genius.
he favors the female Irken "Tak" as partner, as both are underappreciated geniuses.
Takka also once managed to wield a Keyblade when Helix sent him on a mission
to protect Kingdom Hearts, and the Multiverse from total destruction.
(however, in the ensueung battle, Takka not only lost his connection to the weapon
but also lost his entire left arm in the process. prompting Helix to replace it with a bionic prostetic.)
Takka's voice actor is "Jason Marsden"
