Description 'When her scouts returned from their latest cross-dimensional exploration expedition,
she nearly busted a gut upon seeing their latest acquisition: an aged, wooden norseman mask.

Her attitude later changed when Sunset Shimmer (her mystic consultant)
informed her of an oddly strong reading of "chaos magic" emitting from the seemingly worthless piece of wood.

Weeks of testing only confirmed what they already knew: The Mask held POWERFUL magic.
but, thus far they were unable to figure out how to properly harness such power.

One late night..Helix finally decided to wing It, and see what happened when she actually WEARS the Mask.

her lieutenants and underlings were soon awoken by a strange, almost "thunderclap" like noise.
and, upon inspecting the science lab..they found their Mistress.

But..she was Changed, almost like a whole different person.

"M-M-Mistress Helix??" began Scarlett, actually worried. "Are you..Okay!?"

Helix looked upon her subordinates..and, smiled an impossibly wide grin. "Never better, Scarlett dear. In fact..I. am. SMOKIN!"

***

Been browsing DeviantART, and found that It's becoming a trend for artists
to draw characters (mostly FEMALE) as wearers of "The Mask of Chaos" from 'The MASK'.
SO, I decided to give It a try with one of my own characters.

So..Mask Helix. yeah, I's be worried TOO if I were you.
there is no telling what Loki's Mask will unleash with Helix "true self" amplified to such a degree.

To save time, I edited/altered an already pre-existing artwork of Helix.
(as all I needed to do was give Helix a GREEN face, and crazier facial expression.)
In keeping with the "Swing/Big Band" them behind The MASK as a character
Helix dress is based on "Jessica Rabbit" (who in turn is partially based on Tex Avery's "Red Hot Riding Hood.")

The Mask of Loki brings out any bottled/hidden emotions in any person. Their true inner self. What does Helix keep hidden within her?

THAT, I am still figuring out.

It may be possible that the Mask won't alter her personality at all.
given that I doubt Helix is the time who keeps her true feelings and nature concealed.

(similar to when The Joker wore the Mask in the comic book crossover: Joker/MASK.
In which his personality wasn't changed in the slightest. all he got was a new wardrobe, and superpowers.)

If there is ANY change, Helix may act more "extreme" than normal.
Other than that, I feel she'll be exactly the same: an intelligent woman seeking to end all Crime and Corruption by ANY means necessary
(and, with the power of The MASK, she may just accomplish this goal.)

I wonder what will happen when this mistress of order has chaos fused with her. I wonder what will happen when order meets chaos.

The Mask affects people differently (depending on the psychological profile of whose wearing It.)

There was one episode of 'The MASK: The Animated Series' called "Shrink Wrap"
in which Stanley's psychiatrist, Dr. Newman (voiced by the same actor who portrayed him in the film: Ben Stein) wore the Mask.

when he transformed, his Mask Persona was more of what I call "Controlled Chaos"
as he was convinced that (nearly) everybody was insane, and sought to make the world a better place
by either tying them up in an "underwear straightjacket", and locking them up in a bird cage..

..OR, by simply doing away with them via Electro-Shock therapy, or "removing their brains"

(and, throughout the whole thing, Dr. Newman NEVER noticed he was changed
and, STILL believed that "The Mask" was just something that Stanley Ipkiss made up.)

There was even an episode where The Mask's arch-nemesis, Doctor Pretorius, wore the Mask.
but, all THAT did was make him realize that what people have being saying about him was true: he IS Evil.
(before he denied him being evil, and just felt he was a misunderstood genius.
But, as The Mask, he had more clarity, and saw that he really was evil..and, didn't really care, either.)

Not everyone who wears the Mask become Crazy, or Wacky.
sometimes It just allows them to see their true selves given the Mask ability to "unmask" one's false identity, and reveal their true nature.

I'm going to be honest and say that I don't see the appeal of "Masking" characters

MetroXLR In reply to EpicCrasher [2015-08-27 17:35:37 +0000 UTC]

Yo'd have to be a fan of 'The MASK' (and, Tex Avery cartoons in general) to get the appeal.

Basically, "The Mask" itself is a mystic artifact that enable ordinary humans and animals
the abilities of basic cartoon characters (EX: defying the laws of physics, and being invulnerable)
while psychologically unleashing one's 'true self' (EX: If 'Fluttershy' were ever to wear The MASK, she'd become Pinkie Pie 2.0)

Does that help?

EpicCrasher In reply to MetroXLR [2015-08-27 17:42:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes I understand what the mask is, but I just don't see appeal.
Might just be because nothing "The MASK" related ever showed up where I live (Maybe the movie, I don't know for sure)

Then, I suggest you watch the movie (NOT 'Son of the Mask' though) as well as a few episodes of the animated series.

Might help you along with understanding the appeal, and such.

Though, you yourself aren't entirely wrong. "She-Masks" is a trend that is often overly done.
I just wanted to try It ONCE, and see if I could make It work, and NOT just be a typical recolor.

What you can AT LEAST take from this is a scenario where Helix has God Powers, AND is as crazy as The Joker.

even WITHOUT much knowledge of The MASK, that image alone can do something for you,
as you by now already know my Helix character well enough.

EpicCrasher In reply to MetroXLR [2015-08-27 17:57:54 +0000 UTC]

Indeed I've heard how awful Son of the mask was. That movie just came out way too late
and none of the original actors were involved with that one.

and if Helix would be like that would flipping scary.
However Scarlett could black Helix with Helix did as the mask (I don't think Scarlett would be stupid enough, but it's worth the try)
