i wouldn't say ripped our childhood asunder. more like, a poorly written self contain film.

I'm not talking about the whole film. That was..OKAY.
I am mostly referring to the Ghostbusters Logo character turning into an evil monster.
That might..have a negative affect on some fans of the cartoon.

Yes. BUT, what the majority overlooks is that "AtC" was an AU Story.
None of it was canon with the original films,
and was just an Alternate Universe.
a fact that IDW Publishing had to practically hammer in
When they did a crossover where the Original, and 2016
Ghostbusters teamed up due to trans-dimensional stuff.

It has some pretty good in-jokes.
Like how Patty recognized Winston has having the same face as he Uncle (only younger),
and after Ray gives a "Familiar Faces across Dimensions" theory, they make a joke about Bill Murray,
by remarking someone who looked like Peter blowing up a Golf Course.
But, jokes aside. The comic had a deeper meaning to it.
It didn't take potshots at the 2016 Ghostbusters, or said the originals were better.
In fact, there is some character development where the 2016 Ghostbusters accept
that they are one among a Multiverse of Ghostbusters, and they are special in their own way.
