Actually it's an archetype that has existed since the early days of television. You mostly see it in sitcoms and the Simpsons was far from the first one to do it.

It's just that saying that the Simpsons were the inspiration for the Fairly Odd Parents could be wrong, considering that the archetype of the idiot husband and serious wife has existed for a loooong time before the simpsons were aired

Except there is the BLARING fact that Butch Hartman is a die-hard Simpsons fan,
so regardless of the "archetype's" true origins, It's obvious what was on Hartman's mind at the time.
Oh, forget it. It's useless having a discussion with you.
all you want to do is argue, and create conflict.

Then try to see things from MY perspective (at least for a moment)
and, not try to always prove me wrong just so you can feel superior.
Because reading between the lines, your 'civil' discussion still have very hostile tones to them.

I was just trying to say that the archetype that we see on the Simpsons and the Fairly Odd Parents has existed for a long time. Maybe Butch Hartman felt a little inspired by the Simpsons but we have no way of knowing if it really is that way.

now I can't help but picture Cosmo saying "D'oh!" and choking Timmy in anger, which... is really OOC but still a funny image, kinda

Yeah, that may be Anti-Cosmo's thing..except he's a genius.
But, questionable parenting aside,
Alot of the idiocy that Cosmo does isn't that different from Homer.
And, no one is arguing the similarities between Marge and Wanda,
over how they 'married idiots that they love, and tolerate.'

Yech. I'm tired of doing that.
EVERYBODY knows Family Guy is a (poor) Simpsons Rip-Off.
(I'm not kidding. Just look up "Larry & Steve" on Cartoon Cartoons,
Family Guy was SUPPOSE to be a very different show.)
The less attention given to Family Guy the better.
