My final piece before I turn another year older... and I had to pick a KH fanart to do it! Okay, I have been listening to the soundtrack of the Titanic too many times to count. Especially Rose's theme. That track was probably the inspiration for this particular piece. I don't know why I drew Riku and Kairi, but I think that it makes the piece a little bit funny with their reactions.

Again, as I was writing this, inspiration struck and well, I managed to make a whole story out of this. Basically, Sora and Riku are bickering between each other on the way to the island for a picnic with Kairi. Both of them are fighting quite hard, and poor Kairi with the food is trying to stop them. Unfortunately, things get a little rough, and the picnic basket is lost to sea. Obviously, the fight is forgotten at the prospect of lost food, and an expensive waterproof picnic box. Deciding to compensate for earlier, Sora grins to his friends and dives into the blue abyss. Kairi and Riku think that Sora can't get the box and wait for him to resurface. But, as the time ticks by, Sora doesn't come back up. Both friends start to panic as their friend might have drowned. As they are about to dive down and find him, Sora springs up out of the water, transformed into his merman form. They celebrate that he is alive, but Riku wonders if Sora is able to transform back...cheesy, I know, but quite cute at the same time.

Quite obviously, Kairi is smitten by Merman!Sora, while Riku, pretending that he is glad that Sora is safe, but is quite jealous of not being able to transform into a merman (I think that Riku was one of those kids that always wanted to swim under the sea like a merman (I know for a fact that I wanted to be a mermaid)). If I have to say one thing about this piece, is that I think my marker technique looks really good. Kairi and Riku are meant to appear quite 2-Dimensional, to show a contrast to Merman!Sora. The splash was probably one of the hardest parts of the piece. It may have only three layers to it, but since water is transparent, it made things about 5x more difficult. Well, *sighs* considering my lack of talent, I think that it turned out pretty well. Maybe after my birthday, I will suddenly become incredibly amazing at art! Well, I'll just hope for the future that I can improve even more.
