{ G e m P o w e r } Like any other peridot synthetically created in Home World, Chrys can create a holographic screen to record, store, and report data, and he can also control multiple forms of Gem-made technologies.

{ P e r s o n a l i t y } To be brief about Chrys, he is a combination of both Amethyst and Pearl. He expects everything to be perfect whenever he makes plans out in battle or in daily life, but he can also be a bit lax when he wants to be, sometimes he can become to lazy to do anything and ends up sleeping all day. However, he hates listening to someone nag to him and is considerate of one's feelings if he hurts them by accident. Chrys also enjoys Steven's creativity and optimism and you may see him hang out with Steven more than Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl when they come to visit Beach City. Downside is he can be very clingy to Steven or Steven's friends. And he always tries his hardest to make a good first impression to new people. Chrysolite also has a bit of trust issues towards humans due to his traumatizing past, but his liking towards them are progressing slowly.

Chrysolite was not a chrysolite in the past. He was a synthetically made peridot originally from Home World, and he was the first one created. However, he was not a successful experiment. Chrys was born as a defect; his gem was much larger than the other peridots created. There was a glitch in the system during the process of his existence. To hide their mistake, the gems from Home World coated the core of his gem, making it appear to be larger. Chrys stayed and was taught the same lessons like any normal peridot concocted, but he didn't feel normal. He felt like his existence does not belong here as he watches every eye lay on him, all filled with utter disgust and hatred. Know matter how hard he tried to impress everyone, especially Yellow Diamond, he felt like he does not belong here. Filled with anger and fear, Chrysolite equips himself with a Gem Destabilizer and flees to one of the functioning Warp Pads that led to another world: Earth. He was told that Earth was filled with organic life materials and it is "a worthless planet", but he found that Earth was much more than that. Finding a suitable place, he made upgrades to the Gem Destabilizer he stole from Home World and stabs himself, causing him to retreat into his large gem, waiting to become something more than he was before. He found himself alone on Earth on May 14, 300 A.D.

Little did he know that a human man stumbles upon him, still in his gem state, one day. The man was a lonely human with no wife or children, yet he was a skilled artisan who makes jewelry specially for women. Gazing upon the golden green beauty of Chrys, the man takes him to his workplace to create a fine necklace. At his workshop, the human cuts down the size of Chrys's gem size and treating it with the heat of an open fire and with special care, and then molds a golden ring around the gem. As he sets the amulet aside, Chrysolite awakens from his slumber and begins to regenerate to his new form. The man frantically stumbles as he watches Chrysolite meta-morph into a new figure. He went to the nearest mirror and could not believe his eyes; he was perfect. He no longer looked like an exact copy of the peridots, nor was his voice exactly like that perfect pipsqueak; it was much deeper. No. He was his own self. But was it the new destabilizer that did this to him, or was it the man's crafty skills? None will know. To him, it was a blessing to let the man change him. And to the man, it was a blessing from God to give him a child. The man offers Chrysolite to stay with him, and Chrys's response to that was "Yes."

However, his life as a man's child did not last for eternity. The man whom loved him and cared for him passed away on 354 A.D. Chrys grieves over the man's death and witnessed a sudden transformation among the town he lived in. The other townspeople who Chrys met while working with the man thought he was a monster sent from Hell, the reason for the man's death and began attacking him to leave their homes and their lives. Chrys fled from the town he lived in and arrives to another area on Earth from the Warp Pads. For centuries, Chrysolite lived alone, did everything at his own pace, yet he was not satisfied with the fact that there is no one else to accompany him. Then one day, four figures appeared to his territory, and his first reaction was fear. Are these Gems from the Home World who have come to eliminate him or are they these Earth Gems who rebelled against the Home World Gems thousands of years ago? He doesn't know; he was too afraid to know their alliance. He had to do something, but he could not make his first action. As three gems charged to him, the gem on his forehead begins to glow and a sword appears in front of him. Peridots were not programmed to have weapons such as that. So was he able to do that? Must have been the man's work that gave him his weapon. Chrys never imagined that the ancient work from a human could give him this sort of power. Grabbing his weapon, he charged towards the three gems but was interfered by the fourth one. His arms were spread wide open, forming a wall between the opposite sides. At that moment, the gem began to smile, and said to him, "Hi! My name is Steven. What's your name?" In utter confusion, Chrys replies to "Steven's" question. "Chrysolite." Chrysolite's expression changed into a more frantic look. "You're . . . you're not going to eliminate me or send me back to Home World! Are you?!" He was scared as he began reminiscing his past at Home World, and tears began to flood out from his eyes. "Please! Don't take me back there! I don't want to be looked down as a worthless waste of space again!" The other gems looked at each other, each exchanging looks of concern. The tall red gem dismisses her weapons and walks calmly to the frightened green gem. "We're not going to take you back to Home World. We just want to know what happened. But I want you to dismiss your sword first." Processed to take commands, Chrysolite did as he was told.

Half an hour passed and all the gems, except the tall gem were in tears. Chrys's history was rough, but it did not hurt him as much as before. Feeling empathy towards the green gem Steven says to him, "Come to Beach City with us! You'll love it. You can be a part of the Crystal Gems and have a new family!" Chrys hesitated a bit, still concerned about the other gems "Is that okay?" The tall one nodded with approval. "Yes, you may become a member of the team. However, I want you to promise that you will fight to protect the humans." Chrysolite smiles to the tall one and said, "I promise," to her. Even though he does not like humans as much as they do, he is not letting this offer slip away.
