Oh of course, I am interested in the story so do not want spoilers. But just was saying since well... especially in haunter's case it's not that hard to evolve it if you know how. But i DID notice you said before that for the comic's purpose you'd have haunter evolve differently so I guess depending on the comic's criteria (I'll totally grant that trading a pokemon to evolve it has always just been dumb logic anyway) I suppose it COULD be harder for haunter to evolve here.

funny thing about haunter... it doesn't need more exp to evolve. just someone to trade with. Even if she's "unpopular" for the purposes of the story, surely she can find someone that she can trade and trade back with given the right collateral? That said from what the author said he is going to make evolving haunter a bit trickier for the comic's purposes so that may play a role in it not being so easy depending on how he decided evolving a haunter will work here since, to be fair, yeah it really is just a game mechanic that he evolves through trade and a weird one at that
