The subject with the smoke is quietly standing out against the deep red ground.
Amazing

Actually i don't know yet what/who Black Dahlia is, but this photo is... tres cool I absolutely love the colouring, that's the way i like it sometimes, plus the smoke. And yeah, the hot haircut too But somehow it reminds me a bit of Yang Kar Wai type of shot with just more saturation... I really like it!

I'm looking back at this a long time after I faved it. Man, it's only becoming better with time. I mean, the whole composition, the look she has in her eyes, it's a like a whole story on its own. I'd double fave it if I could.

Thanks! Camera I used on this is the camera responsible for my whole gallery. First camera I ever bought. An old Nikon FG. Photography for me was an ancillary accident to an ancillary pursuit of a whim...best whim I ever had. When I started looking for my first camera, someone said 'buy a used Nikon.' I happened to be out one day, saw a lonely camera in back corner of the shelf and said, 'what about that one?' The guy said, 'that's just an old Nikon.' I said, 'I'll take it.' That was a good day.

wow, this one is elegantly depraved...the lighting, palette, and treatment at the edges give it the feeling of one of those nickel peepshow machines from waaaay back in the day.

It's truly a gorgeous image.

"Elegantly depraved!" Wow, I can't even begin to tell you how much I love that turn-of-phrase!! Would you mind if I used that...I'll give you full credit, of course!!

In any case, thank you. I'm thrilled that you dig it. "Elegantly depraved!!!" Will you marry me? j/k I was a literature major (believe it or not) so a good lyric is a big deal to me.

Cheers!

gotta love such an enthusiastic response, and I do~ of course you can use the phrase, I'd be honored! ( re: "marry me," now *that's* appreciation )

A lit. major, eh? Sure, why wouldn't I believe it? I'm a regular jane-of-all-trades, m'self, and possessor of many "hats" (One such hat belongs to The Writer in Me, and so well-choreographed (or inspired) words are my tofu and pototoes). Interesting, though, that you referred to "lyrics"--are you also a musician?

no worries, I do it (um, frequently, heh). Very cool! *nods sympathetically albeit with frustration at the silly 24-hour limit...writes congressman to appeal the decision*

(okay, see what I mean about carried away?)

I've come to the conclusion that "dabbling" is all I will do anymore, but do it with gusto...too many loves, too many interests, to choose only a few!

Suppose I got a bit carried away... ...I do that some times. And actually, yes, I play piano & sax...or did in what seems like a previous life already...now I just dabble. Only so many hours in a day!
