Not surprising. There's a lot they leave on in the Anime, & even worse, there's a lot of the anime they cut out of the English version x_X
It doesn't help that sailor moon is practically antique these days, making the manga & DVD's expensive. Though if you're lucky enough to come across a manga, pick it up & read it. Just 5 minuets of scanning through Pretty Sailor Solders Vol 6 informed me so much XD
I just found out recently this year about Sailor Cosmos because I saw a pic(I though tit was Serena's mother as a sailor scout at first) & was determined to find out more information. Her identity is suppose to be ambiguous. Though it does say blatantly that it is her in the manga. However, whether it's her reincarnation or her in the future is a mystery. I've seen claims that in the manga Cosmo states she & her court were reincarnated, though I've not seen it YET. Though it clearly states after Sailor Moon becomes Neo Queen Serenity she cannot become a sailor scout again, thus sailor Mini Moon was to take her place as Sailor Moon & that the present & future selves can't be around each other without disrupting the time line HOWEVER Cosmos went back in time to change what happened & the creator said herself that she had decided to throw a few of the riles to the wend & that she decided she liked Sailor Moon & Mini Moon's individual identities
