Hull never had many starring parts in his career.  He was the understanding underworld physician in Humphrey Bogart's "High Sierra", and Tyrone Power's and Henry Ford's dyspeptic (and slightly comic) newspaper owner/editor friend in "Jessie James" and "The Return of Frank James"*  Possibly his best known supporting part (in what is actually an ensemble film) was his symbolic millionaire, bemoaning having grabbed a box of cigars with only one in it when he ran for the lifeboat, Mr. Rittenhouse in Hitchcock's "Lifeboat".

*The one who ends all his explosive editorials with the statement that anyone who reads these views and does not share them ought to be taken outside and shot like a dog!
