Description You know, I got tired of my old avatar here. I've had it for over a year & my drawing has definitely improved since I drew that thing. It's about time I switched things around a bit. Spring cleaning!

Here's the finished animation (full size)! I'm having a bit of a hard time taking to 50x50 .gif version & making it less than 15KB so I can use it here. Maybe someone can give me a bit of a hand?

How do you do it, sir? Such smoothness and great character acting. Masterful.

Since you asked my good sir, here's my personal 5 step program to quality animation.

Step 1 : WATCH a lot of cartoons & STUDY them. Not rotoscoping, just watching things closely.

Step 2 : TIME THINGS OUT. Do rough poses & space them accordingly so they work & feel right. It can't be too fast, & it can't be too slow... think of it as lukewarm porridge, JUUUUUSSST RIGHT!

Step 3 : LOOSEN UP. Stiff hands = stiff movement = being stiffed when you finally play it back.

Step 4 : EXAGGERATE whenever possible. Whenever you think you've pushed it far enough, PUSH IT EVEN FARTHER!

& Step 5 : HAVE FUN, DAMMIT! What's the point of animating when you don't enjoy it? It doesn't have to be laborious, you know.

Thus concludes my five step program.

I tried bringing this thing into photoshop, but it ended up being just one frame of the whole animation. Flash has a .gif function, but the final file ended up being about 50-60 KB (even after I shrunk it down to 50x50), WAY more than the 15KB limit DA has on avatars.

I'd appreciate any help that I can get. Do you think you'd be up to the task of assembling 160 individual frames, aligning them, converting each of them, & exporting it to a size of 15KB or less? It'll take eon's to do, possibly more the way I work with computers.

actually

a really easy (though time consuming) way to do it would be to screenshot each frame (at least the most essential ones. with 160 frames, you will inevitably have to cut a lot of them out. I had an animation that was 20 frames and I had to absolutely KILL the quality to make it big enough) then paste the screenshots (without cropping) into photoshop. Put each frame in order in layers then animate it that way. The gif function is pretty easy to learn.

you can kill the quality and color limit with photoshop so that raelly helps limit the size.
