UPDATE 2/28/13: Added my own version of the Battletoads logo to give it that "mock official" promo look for Palette Swap's anything goes month. Rusty's been wanting me to polish this one up for the blog for quite a while now.

Well, this was a fun composition to work on! Infinitely easier than the game itself, though still something of a workload.
Mimicked the overall color scheme of the original game box art (greens/earthen hues over warm purples) but really played up the 'Toads' stylistic similarities to the Ninja Turtles.
Besides, how much unique fanart do you really see of the Battletoads?
My favorites are Rash (in the shades and bandanna) and the charging Blag (fat, rat-possum thing in front of the Dark Queen) just because of how I posed them.
Made for printing at 11"x17"!

I recently played there games through RARE collection and am really enjoying them. This picture is great bit of fan art and you even have that... Rat or Possum I don't know who he is.

If you ever fancy it, you should submit this to our Rare Ltd. Design By Humans page to potentially get it made on a t-shirt! You would need to take off the text at the bottom referencing other brands, though. If you feel that doesnβt compromise your design, go for it!

Nice work! These guys brought the pain on the NES. I loved the music and the sound effects (pause included) I agree with the idea of a remake, or even a spot in the new smash bros. game.

And you're right, you don't see enough Battletoads art.
They should revive this series as a God Of War beat em' up style game. With BT's off-the-wall kickass-ness it'd be the GOW clone to truly break the mold.

That game. That GAAAME. I think I may have beaten it all of once in my childhood. Anyway, this piece brought back those awesome times. Battletoads... I played that game so much. It's been too long. They should bring it back! At least on the DS...

I think the problem with "Nintendo Hard" games back in the day came from a lack of both actual game design and playtesting.
Most of the difficulty was a facade that likely just came from programmers realizing what they could construct and putting it in without balancing it out with the rest of the game. If they'd thoroughly tested games like this, they'd have realized that certain bits weren't difficult because they were a challenge, they were difficult because they were poorly designed.
Yet here I am, over 20 years later still looking back fondly at Battletoads... XD

Yeah, that happened a lot in the 8 bit era(the "were difficult because they were poorly designed" thing).
Still all of the later versions of Battletoads were pretty tough too('cept for "Battletoads&DoubleDragon", such a wierd crossover BTW)
