Here is my first Choices OC here, and I'm gonna be honest...she's a pretty old OC since she dates back to 2019 XD Hell I even once planned on making an amateur series about her being the MC in her AU ILITW story before, but since my friends and I got into some heated arguments before we even got to make the part two of the first episode, we cancelled it and disbanded faster than any bands out there. I am still not brave enough to revive that channel. (PS: don't find it, I beg you. I'll die of embarrassment like in sims 4)

Anyway, here she is! Mind you, she's an AU main character.

Penny Laurent and her family migrated to America from France at the age of 7 after her father sold his successful company since he was already in his 60's and needed to retire, and so they chose to live their next chapter in America, Westchester town.

During her years in France,Penny had no friends at her age and most of her friends that time were adults and teenagers, so she grew more understanding to mature topics such as death, sickness, romance, and business etiquettes at a young age.

When she moved into the neighbourhood, she was excited to use her English skills to the locals and eventually met her first group friends at her age. Her first friends were Dan and Lily, then she got to know Ava, Andy, Lucas, and Stacy, then eventually meeting the Marshall twins; Jane and Noah.

In this alternate universe, she was the reason why the group was formed in the first place -- they all gathered to her 8th birthday and she was the one who suggested they should all hang out with each other, and eventually everyone clicked with each other and all became close friends. She also becomes part of another group with older kids in her elementary school after showing her bravery that impressed the older ones.

In this universe, Penny the one who found Mr Red instead of Jane, and is the one who pushed everyone to play that game "Are You Scared" after Jane got jealous of her catching the older kids' attention while she gets to look like a "coward" to the point Jane throws away their friendship bracelet. With Penny wanting to salvage her friendship with Jane and to show she's not a "coward", she convinced everyone to play with Mr Red.

After Jane's death, she withdrew away from the group. She couldn't move on from her guilt and sorrow, but since she still had an elderly father and an anxious mother, she didn't want them to worry so she started pretending to be fine by distracting herself from everyone and indulging in romance; she had her first kiss and that made her addicted to the feeling of being wanted, loved, and "normal".

This goes on for several years with her being addicted to her coping mechanism. Through high-school, she gets called out for being "promiscuous", "pansexual skank", and "the school slut" because she had kissed and dated a ridiculous amount of students, and her relationships only last for a few weeks to only a few months. Eventually she found herself in a toxic yet the most lasting relationship she ever had, with a girl named Helena Lane. She tried to endure her unhealthy relationship for the sake of her sanity, her family, and as a way for a permanent coping method.

Personality

Since she was a child, Penny had always been a hopeless romantic. Even though she was mature for her age, she still had the innocence in dreaming of a fantasy romance. She had an energetic, outgoing, curious and charismatic personality that charmed her friends into being friends with her, then later, with one another.

She was completely enamoured to have her own friends at her age for the first time that she spoiled them with anything she can, and that includes making them bracelets and bags, letting them borrow her toys and dresses, and sometimes giving them platonic love letters.

And even though she was young, she had always been worried and concerned for her parents since her father is already an elderly and her mother often exhausted herself with work. When her father had a heart attack scare back in France and her mother had to drive them quickly to the nearest hospital, she always remembered that event as the most terrifying day and nothing else she would experience later would par it, so Penny had a bit of a careless perspective as well - which ultimately leads her to the Redfield situation.

As time pass by, eventually her father had grown older and more prone to diseases. Seeing her sick father made her want to pursue a medical career, abandoning her childhood dream to open a handmade handbag store. This new passion of hers had her always preparing medical supplies in her bag before meeting up with Mr Red.

The stress of her life and the burden of Jane's death took a deep toll in her mental state that she resorted to being a flirtatious promiscuous lady in school. She's often seen flirting with students here and there, but she never dare to flirt with her past childhood friends or her bullies - she'd show vulnerability to her past friends while strayed a good distance away from her bullies. She's a very social butterfly in general, and people couldn't deny that despite being the 'school skank', she was generally a sweetheart and easy person to be around with.

Penny's main hobbies were mostly in the needlework category consisting; crocheting, knitting, weaving, cross-stitching, sewing, embroidery. In another note, she also really loved baking French pastries for her friends, her exes would say she made the best macarons, muffins, and tarts. Penny found all these to be relaxing while simultaneously useful.

Penny inherited her father's kindness and formality, and her mother's fierceness and determination. She was sweet to the people who show kindness back to her, but had little patience to those who treated her and her friends wrong. She didn't forgive people easily, and believed they need to be tested if they're being genuine, hence why she didn't forgive Britney in the ILITW timeline no matter what Lily said.

She had a more cautious perspective on the topic of supernaturalism, but she didn't like the rumors surrounding Cora Pritchard (Pritch the Witch) and always saw her as a misunderstood lovely old lady rather than someone to fear. She would scold anyone at her age/younger than her age for saying such things despite not knowing much about Cora herself.

Appearance

As you can see, Penny had fair skin and green eyes. She's a natural blonde but she has dyed her hair light blue. She preferred short revealing plain clothes rather than those embedded with decoration, as she wanted her 'assets' to be the main attraction.

At the time when she's dating Helena, she would be seen wearing more covered up and 'unflattering' clothes as Helena forced her to do, and Penny begrudgingly complied.

Her parents - Penny dearly loved her parents, who were referred as Mr Laurent and Mrs Laurent. She loved them so much that she's willing to pretend to be normal for their family dynamic, even if her ways of coping were horrendous. Few week prior to the ILITW event, she pressured them to go on a vacation without her for once since the death of Jane, hence why they were not physically present. They were a loving family, but the timing of becoming one was too late.

Lily Ortiz - As kids, Penny absolutely adored Lily and they would often be seen together playing dollhouse. Penny would encourage Lily to step out of her comfort zone, and was always willing to protect her from anything. During freshman year highschool, Penny made an effort to reconcile with her past friends, and one of the friends she succeeded in was Lily. So when Mr Red was awoken, Penny and Lily were already friends again to begin with.

Dan Pierce - Penny considered Dan as the brother she never had and has always been open to showing affections to him, which caused Dan to be taken aback most of the time before finally getting used to it. After Jane's death, Penny tried reconciling with Dan the most, but her methods always backfired and made Dan feel even worse until Penny eventually stopped. In the main ILITW timeline, she would express her deepest regrets for not being there for him.

Ava Cunningham - Ava and Penny were almost polar opposites until they found a mutual liking towards animals and outdoor activities as children. She's also one of the friends Penny had succeeded on reconciling, and they would together take care of the moss creature from Pritch the Witch rather than just Penny. While Penny was more cautious when it came to supernaturalism, she secretly supported Ava giving justice to their bullies unlike Lily.

Andy Kang - As children, Andy would teach Penny how to do various sports and play board games. Sometimes Penny would help him take care of his little sister (in this universe, Andy has two younger siblings). Now grown up, Andy admitted that Penny's careless acts had made him feel more protective to her than when they were kids, and even though she failed on reconciling with him, he would always have her back regardless. Stacy Green - Stacy was one of the friends Penny got along at first introduction. They both had shared many likes and dislikes that it was almost meant to be. However, after Jane's death and Penny's attempted to reconcile with her, it failed horribly as they've grown too different to start anew. When Mr Red came back, Penny would try to reconciling again, and it would finally succeed.

Lucas Thomas - During childhood, Penny and Lucas would often watch movies and read books together as they shared taste in genre. Penny would try to be affectionate but soon learn that Lucas wasn't comfortable of her occasional physical hugs, gifts, or letters. He and Noah were the only ones Penny hasn't tried reconciling, and her reason for Lucas was that she would get really shy around him, they've grown too far apart that she's not sure where to start.

Jane Marshall - Penny and Jane were the bestest friends because they share a ton of similarities, but the most prominent key of difference was Penny was a lot bolder than Jane. In this alternate universe, their friendship symbol was a pair of friendship bracelets they made instead of a whistle. When Penny and Jane got into the argument that lead them back to Mr Red, Jane had become more distant to Penny. Penny felt she's the role reason of Jane's death and couldn't move on from her guilt.

Noah Marshall - As kids, Penny would let Noah bake various stuff using her easy bake oven, and they'd have a bunch of mini treats ready to eat and share. After the group fell out, Penny knew he was hurting the most from all this so she couldn't bring herself to talk to him. Seeing Noah killed her in the inside, and feared that he'd blame her for Jane's death and would never forgive her...which in this universe, she's right - he only tolerated her at best. But deep inside, he wished he didn't have to feel this way towards her.

Lorelai Aisling - Lorelai was Cody's cousin, and Lorelai was the reason Penny got the attention of the older kids in elementary since Lorelai was the younger sister of an older boy, and Penny helped her get back her doll from a moss creature (who would turn out to be Pritch the Witch's pet) one day. Lorelai was also the friend from her childhood who stuck with her after Jane's death, and it's because she wasn't directly involved into Jane's case. In this alter universe, Lorelai died instead of Cody, leaving Penny in an even deeper pit of guilt and grievance.

Jocelyn, Britney, & Cody - During the first few years on being their victim, Penny would try to be as nice to them as possible, but by her junior and senior years, her patience is at the limit towards them and it was a long time coming when she finally snapped at them. They're the only people she secretly wouldn't mind seeing die or being tortured.

Seth Xavier - Instead of Cid as the MC's neighbour in the original ILITW, a 14-years-old teenager named Seth Xavier was Penny's neighbour. Penny and Seth had an older sister-younger brother dynamic as they'd been close friends since his family moved in (which was 4 years ago). After Lorelai died in Penny's backyard, Penny was forced to live in Seth's residence for the time being while her house was investigated. Seth had helped and understood her the best way he could.

Helena Lane - Helena as Penny's girlfriend in the ILITW timeline. Prior to Mr Red's revival, Helena and Penny were only mere highschool friends until Helena pressured Penny to date her, and since Helena's father was Penny's father's doctor, she couldn't refuse. Helena was controlling and possessive over, and she'd show it whenever Penny was with or mentioned Lorelai/Seth/her old friends, since Penny always spoke fondly about them. Penny broke up with her at the last chapter, just mere hours before she died.

Mateo Aisling - Mateo Aisling was Lorelai's (adopted) older brother, and the one who recognized Penny's confidence and bravery after she helped Lorelai years ago. He's already at college, but when Lorelai died, he and his other adopted siblings came back to town, giving Mateo and Penny a moment of reunion. He's also one of the few from her childhood to stick through with her, but Mateo wasn't as close to Penny as she and Lorelai were.

Sewing club members - Penny was part of the school's sewing club, and she's friends with all the other club members. They didn't treat her any differently despite her school status, and while they have no deep or special connection with Penny, they're defended her from Cody when he confronted her at Britney's party by circling and outnumbering him.

Hospital nurses - The hospital nurses were used to seeing Penny since her parents (her father specifically) were frequent patients. Some nurses had seen her grow up throughout the visits and they eventually knew each others' names and some basic information, but the nurses still remain polite and professional.

Hilda the dog - In this alternate universe, Hilda was already Penny's dog. Penny loved Hilda a lot, as good dog owners should. And when Helena showed jealousy towards Hilda, Penny didn't let that slide and argued for her dog's rights.

Sir Edmond the black cat - In this alternate universe, the homeless kitten from the alleyway is a grown up black male cat who was named as "Sir Edmond the Second" by Dan. And instead of just being Penny's pet, Sir Edmond is everyone's stray pet as they all remembered to have fed and played with him when they were children. He serves as another reason for the group to reunite. He doesn't want to be a household cat and instead visits everyone occasionally.

Blanche the moss creature - After Penny adopted the moss creature from Pritch the Witch, she named the creature "Blanche". Blanche and Penny had a brief history because Blanche was be the one who stole Lorelai's doll ten years ago. Like Sir Edmond, Blanche wasn't exclusively Penny's pet with Ava volunteering to be Blanche's "second parent". Penny and Ava would then establish wholesome plans and ideas for Blanche, treating it as a normal dog.

Fun facts

Penny's character is inspired by two songs: "Eat You Alive" by Victims Aren't We All, and "Keep Myself Alive" by Get Scared.

While Penny's favourite color is pink, she seems to be leaning towards cooler colors - this is to symbolically show how she's still not over about Jane's death, and to symbolize she's still very much connected to the events even after 10 years.

Penny had dated one of Dan's football friends as a way for her to get closer to Dan...but Dan got the impression that she's bragging about how 'normal' and 'happy' at him, so it horribly backfired. Dan would reference this multiple times in her story.

Penny had also dated one of Stacy's cheerleader friends, and while Stacy was fine with it, Penny quickly broke up with her friend since the cheerleader was too possessive to let her hang out with Stacy.

Mateo Aisling - Mateo Aisling was Lorelai's (adopted) older brother, and the one who recognized Penny's confidence and bravery after she helped Lorelai years ago. He's already at college, but when Lorelai died, he and his other adopted siblings came back to town, giving Mateo and Penny a moment of reunion. He's also one of the few from her childhood to stick through with her, but Mateo wasn't as close to Penny as she and Lorelai were.

Sewing club members - Penny was part of the school's sewing club, and she's friends with all the other club members. They didn't treat her any differently despite her school status, and while they have no deep or special connection with Penny, they're defended her from Cody when he confronted her at Britney's party by circling and outnumbering him.

Hospital nurses - The hospital nurses were used to seeing Penny since her parents (her father specifically) were frequent patients. Some nurses had seen her grow up throughout the visits and they eventually knew each others' names and some basic information, but the nurses still remain polite and professional.

Hilda the dog - In this alternate universe, Hilda was already Penny's dog. Penny loved Hilda a lot, as good dog owners should. And when Helena showed jealousy towards Hilda, Penny didn't let that slide and argued for her dog's rights.

Sir Edmond the black cat - In this alternate universe, the homeless kitten from the alleyway is a grown up black male cat who was named as "Sir Edmond the Second" by Dan. And instead of just being Penny's pet, Sir Edmond is everyone's stray pet as they all remembered to have fed and played with him when they were children. He serves as another reason for the group to reunite. He doesn't want to be a household cat and instead visits everyone occasionally.

Blanche the moss creature - After Penny adopted the moss creature from Pritch the Witch, she named the creature "Blanche". Blanche and Penny had a brief history because Blanche was be the one who stole Lorelai's doll ten years ago. Like Sir Edmond, Blanche wasn't exclusively Penny's pet with Ava volunteering to be Blanche's "second parent". Penny and Ava would then establish wholesome plans and ideas for Blanche, treating it as a normal dog.

Fun facts

Penny's character is inspired by two songs: "Eat You Alive" by Victims Aren't We All, and "Keep Myself Alive" by Get Scared.

While Penny's favourite color is pink, she seems to be leaning towards cooler colors - this is to symbolically show how she's still not over about Jane's death, and to symbolize she's still very much connected to the events even after 10 years.

Penny had dated one of Dan's football friends as a way for her to get closer to Dan...but Dan got the impression that she's bragging about how 'normal' and 'happy' at him, so it horribly backfired. Dan would reference this multiple times in her story.

Penny had also dated one of Stacy's cheerleader friends, and while Stacy was fine with it, Penny quickly broke up with her friend since the cheerleader was too possessive to let her hang out with Stacy.

Well, what do you think? Do you think Penny deserves the title to be the AU protagonist in that cancelled series? I'm thinking instead of that old painful thing, I'll just write Penny three books about her timelines during her childhood prior to Mr Red, then as a highschool freshman, then as the senior when the main ILITW begins. But I dunno, what do you think?
