I know that the Greeks had made stuff like this. Whether it was Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, or Hades. But, I never thought that anyone else could make anything better than them!! You're better than all of them put together!!! Have you considered making a series? I bet my bottom dollar that you'd do great at it!!!

Hi Marlana.
Thank you very much for your words.
When I finished this last version of my Apollo, and the Deposition, it was clear to me that I had to find a sculpting technique to speed up the process. More than this: I needed to find a way to free my nudes into space. The clay process demands an internal structure that the anatomic masses never fit at the end of the modeling. The answer: styrofoam.
I'm ready to give 3D life to all of my drawings. The problem now is to find someone who want to buy these sculptures. If I had a giant house to keep all the sculptures and the money to execute them, the series would have already been done.

Well, I would love to buy one. so, you found yourself a customer. Why don't you create a website?

Ok, Marlana. Do you want to buy this Apollo casted in metal. Notice that by metal I mean a kind of brass used by local foundries around here. It's a mixture of metals but the result is great.
If you really want to, I can check out the foundry costs and the shipping.

This is a head I did in the 1990's:

The moment to create a website is about to come.

Let me think and get my money together. Then I'll let you know. Okay?

Ok. I think it will cost a lot of money. Maybe you prefer to buy a drawing. I'm working on a new technique on canvas:

It would be easy to ship to the US.

It's no big deal. I can deal with a sculpture. Just let me think about buying one and try to make room in my bedroom.

MichelAngeloNOW In reply to burningrage8-13 [2013-01-08 01:57:20 +0000 UTC]

Ok. Just for comparision: I've just received a commission for a life size sculpture of a famous soccer player of the past to be casted in metal and the estimated cost is around 60 thousand Reais (about 30 thousand US dollars). I think the cost of my Apollo (88 centimeters / 34.64 inches in lenght) would reach 20 thousand US dollars because of the complexity of the mold process. But there are other options. A life size Apollo carved in styrofoam and finished in fiber glass. The shipping cost would be much more cheaper.

No. There was never a commission to do so.

You actually scuplted this out of clay or something? The details are amazing!! Reminds me of how the Greeks would build it. That looks so lifelike!!! Like he's really real!!

Yeah, I sculpted this nude using natural clay. It was a nightmare until the process reached the plaster finishing. If you take a time to look close to what the greeks created you will notice the huge difference to what I'm doing. Thank you, *burningrage8-13 !

This is the most impressive work I've ever seen on DA. Seeing any other Daily Deviations next to this just looks ridiculous. You are an amazingly talented artist definately worthy of the title Michelangelo.
