Description
An Ifugao woman sits with her three friends in front of a souvenir shop in Banaue. They gamely pose for the camera, but their old age makes it difficult for them to walk down to the balcony. On cue, they shout "Yehey!" before the camera clicks at capture, but they quickly revert to a state of quiet melancholy, chewing betel nuts and weaving red yarn. We gave them 100 pesos each, but we wished we could give so much more.Related content

I love this.
On my last trip to the Philippines, I really wanted to go up to the Banaue rice terraces, but there was not enough time.

i wish i could give her a copy though. this place is about 8 hours north of where i live! i don't know when i can go back, it's such a tough ride, zigzag roads in high altitude circling the mountains... too bad.

It would be tough tracking her down since we just met her at the viewsite overlooking the rice terraces. She is one of the few Ifugao minorities inhabiting the place. Tribe people.

I am lucky to be able to go places. What I haven't done yet is travel overseas, which is fine. I plan to tour my country first to appreciate it more.
