Description
although heavily borrowing from buddhism, this piece attempts to convey the concept of digital mysticism while maintaining that spirituality need not be tied to one religion. mandalas are contemplated during meditation. the symbols within the mandala represent some of the major religions of the world. symmetry is used to convey equality and harmony. the sleeping buddha is sakyamuni on his deathbed after bathing in the river before entering nirvana. triskeles on the frame and labyrinths in the center symbolize the spiritual journey necessary to achieve enlightenment. water is also used to literally convey reflection, and the eye of buddha is matched by the image of jesus walking on water, which symbolizes overcoming personal demons.
