At first the colors seemed a little too "bright" for the Princess of the Night's dark side to me, but then I remembered something. I always saw Nightmare Moon as Equestria's Deadly Sin of Envy, which is brought into focus with the green undertones of the background, Nightmare's magic in use and her eye color.
Yes the mane may be messy/larger than normal and yes the colors may not seem to fit at first, but the longer you look at it the more you realize that it being the way it is makes sense. Everything from the bat-like appearance of Nightmare's wings to her chillingly hateful expression all reflect the bitterness and envy of Luna trapped within. Overall I think this piece is well-conceived and executed.

I couldn't be anymore impressed with this piece of artwork. It feels like you can feel Luna's pain, hatred, and jealousy of Celestia and her "Precious light" that everypony loves more than her beautiful night. This is something that you would see from the "Lullaby for Princess" music videos on YouTube.
The only problem I have about this is her mane. I know you had to make it big enough so you could fit the reflection of Princess Luna and her angry tears in Nightmare Moon's mane, but it's a little too big.... Even for her!

Honestly it beautiful, the way you show Princess Luna in Nighmare Moon's mane, and the shading is absolutely amazing. Nighmare's mane looks a little bit messy thou; I would suggest using spray paint or the watercolor brush. I would suggest using blend on the outer-part of the mane then work your way in towards the middle of the mane. Also (sorry for focusing on the mane) Nightmare moons mane looks too big for nightmare moon. Other wise its absolutely beautiful. I can say viewers can see how angry Princess Luna's truly is, and how her jealously may have led to her becoming Nightmare Moon.

Amazing work. I still can't believe Luna took her corruption so badly that she felt the need to punish herself with nightmares when NMM didn't actually do all that much in the end. She just attacked Celestia, destroyed a castle, spent 1000 years in the moon and then got defeated after a few half-assed attempts at stopping the Mane Six.

Woah, this looks amazing MM :'D I remembered you mentioning this piece. The background, the coloring and effects of the glow on her her is perfect. I love how the glow is shinying on her body <3

Though, it does bring up a bit of a serious thought for me. Imagine how it must have been for Luna in that timeline where NMM took over all of Equestria. How horrible it must have been to be trapped inside herself for so long. ^^
