Oooh, did I forget to explain it to you?
Alright, so did I mention how lusii are a lot more of a big deal here than in the original homestuck universe? Well, certain lusii have certain rankings, a sort of "caste code", but by species. They participate in this society much like the trolls do, and truthfully they act much more like actual "parents". Agalon hatched late (and by a huge stroke of luck). Mantises aren't even considered lusii, just kind of the creatures that pick up the scraps of the hatching process (like janitors or garbage people, but lesser because they eat grubs (though they're only allowed to eat eggs that don't end up hatching or mutant eggs)). Because mantismom chose to take him in instead of eat him, she sort if deemed herself as his lusus. A blueblood that was too small + weak to hatch naturally, and having a lusus of such low rank (lower than the lowest really) made him shunned by highbloods. Also, mantismom named him after he pupated, and his last name she based after the notorious Draste Elsadi (his ancestor; a laughsassin that's well known and well hated by highbloods in this universe because he assassinates bad trolls [mostly highbloods; bad people in high positions], not just the enemies/rivals of his employer like most) because his eyes reminded her of him. [She named him with the thought that Agalon could become a strong laughsassin + tool for the highbloods to use on whoever they pleased, like a killing machine. She wanted to wait for him to get older before pursuing this though; that s where Vriurn comes in later uvu]

Edit: she didn't actually know he was legitimately Draste's descendent, she just felt that his eyes were much like that of the legendary laughsassin
