The feel I was going for is that of a person slowly drowning while being encased in deep dark waters. Its sort of my novelty fantasy of mine in depicting death. You're alive but at the same time...not really. Since Memento Mori means 'remember that you must die', I added in some gears which reminded me of the gears in clocks. The skull is something that was used in many other art in representing the theme so I added in as well to make it more...?edgy?
