Description
This magical girl represents the natural form of the earth from the sky to the sea - basically a landscape being worn on a person. I got the idea as we were leaving the Marlborough Sounds on the Interislander ferry, and I was gazing out the window at the sky, the clouds, the green hills, the beaches and the sea.
The kite is meant to represent aerial creatures like birds and butterflies, btw.
I worked on this for many hours straight (art is addictive!)... but took breaks inbetween of course haha. I'm very pleased with how the shading came out.
My brother gave me a lot of praise for this and he said that this is my best piece of work... I'll allow myself a lil bit of vanity and agree with him.
...She reminds me of a sheep.

It's good; the top half especially holds interest. But I think the lower half needs a little more composition work - There's a lot of empty space to the right, giving the pose and unnatural skew. And perhaps some anatomy study on the hips and feet. Otherwise nice effort and good concept.

I love the texture of the sand and how you've placed every element according to a real landscape.
I like the look in her face.
The anatomy is pretty well done too! Cartoony and yet realistic. Lovely pose.

Yeah, I did a lot of separate linearts on separate layers so that I wouldn't screw something up on the same layer that would screw everything else up... yeeeahhh I've got too much time on my hands. |D;;;

The proportions seem a bit off and the colours are a bit too smeary on the shading, but other than that it's lovely, her skin is really well done with the changing elements and you placed the butterflies very well on the kite string, really nice :3

Hmm, not sure how to explain it. Imagine the bevel feature in flash crossed with super mario 64, sort of. I dunno, it just looks too out of place with the rest of the drawing.
