Description If I'm doing a private sale of character goods of any variety, I like to draw a picture of what I'm enclosing in the package. It keeps me drawing and adds a nice personal touch to the sale, or at least I'd like to think. The practice seems to be well-received, so you better believe I keep doing it! It's like a personal trademark, perhaps.

So, I'm selling Neopets plush. Here are some Kacheeks that will finally be leaving my house after overstaying their welcome by about 5 years.

I admittedly got a little carried away with this...pencil sketch on a basic 3 x 5 inch notecard, inked with .01 brown Micron, then colored with Copic marker in a watercolor effect, touched up with only the slightest hint of Prismacolor pencil. I then took the liberty to soften it a bit with a semi-transparent gaussian blur in Photoshop to try and capture the whimsical softness it has on paper. Or maybe that "whimsical softness" is an indication that I need to wear my glasses more...sometimes it's hard to tell! Either way, this is how I wanted it to look, so, please forgive the Photoshop.

Oh, wonderful! I'm so glad you explained how you did it. Gosh, I just love it so much, and this gets bonus points with me because I went through a phrase during which I played Neopets nonstop and it was a BLAST.

Thanks! They do have a cute puppy-dog charm to them...I never actually had one as a pet in-game, but I was nuts about the plush. I'm glad you thought I managed to bring that charm to the drawing!

The watercolor effect involves putting down layers of color alternating with the colorless blender. Like, you make it bleed EVERYWHERE. Then you put down another color. Then you soak it again. Start light, go darker, and if you want the color to be more saturated, soak a darker color in a lighter color of a similar hue to make it bleed out. Make sure you have thick, thick paper (or cardboard) underneath your drawing. I kind of learned that the hard way ^_^; The technique kind of takes a lot out of the colorless blender...I highly recommend investing in a refill bottle if you plan to color a large piece with it. Does that make sense?
