Description Fourth and final version of this painting, originally an ink drawing, later on shadowed with pencils. I've felt all along that the artwork has such an impact that I decided to make a painting of it as well, correcting a few errors while doing it.

Technique used in this artwork: Water color/gouache/airbrush

hi!

saw this frm the talent club deviations, and this one is a oh-my-god indeed! couldn't help but go at how this or any other work from u isn't a DD as yet! jeez...the amount of detail and depth in this is absolutely AMAZING and the composition of this jumps in ur face! wow...i haven't seen such awesome traditional art in a long time....this must've took AGES to finish! good lord...no wonder u're in the talent club! how could they've let u got away?? haha...

anyway, u have a nice he-man thing going on, really reminded me of that cartoon i watched when i was a kid...so awesome work man, i'm so impressed. great job.

Thank you, all these sincere appreciating comments about my work are most welcome. As for this particular one I tried to cover as many angles as possible in it. Now in retrospect I see a few things that could've been done better or worked on a little further and I felt at the time I made it that if I had had more time with it I might've put quite a lot more details in it and other ones would've been polished up some more but I got impatient in the end since I wanted to see it finished. As it turned out I made some money on it shortly after completion so I guess it wasn't that bad after all . Now it hangs 2 feet from me on the wall infront of me. Nice to see a girl who likes comics btw, there's too few of you who does. Comics taught me how to draw and paint so all respect to the genre, on of the greatest and you also find some of the greatest artists there. True art indeed

I wonder though... DD? I'm still pretty new ( having joined deviantART this last fall ) around here so I'm not altogether familiar with all the little keywords yet.

Ps. Yes, Batman Begins is THE Batman movie of all time. This is how they should've made it from start. Christian Bale is the king Ds.

hmm...i guess perfectionism comes with the job, as we're trained to look closely at the details and work on them...i guess it's really okay tho, especially since u did make money out of this one; u damn well should man. i'm glad u're proud of the work now that it's hanging up up ur wall and that u're able to stare at it day by day. just curious tho, how much did u sell it for? or did like...123 pple buy it or smth? lol...

2 1/2 weeks of blood sweat and tears...man, if only i had that kinda patience.

haha, thanks for the comics comment though...i haven't found any girls who enjoy comics too, so i guess i'm a rare breed. it's really influence from my brother, tt's y i'm kinda boyish when it comes to stuff like that...haha. comics are a real good reference, as u've said, so it's really cool that i see the strong influence in ur works...awesome stuff. i still don't know y girls don't like it much tho...and that if guys do, they find them kinda geek-ish...wierd huh? oh well...

oh, sorry. i thought u've been here long enough to know things like having a DD, sorry about that. DD stands for daily deviation, where theres a team of pple who represent diff categories of art...they go round searching for good pieces of art to introduce to the community...hence the name, daily dev. they always appear randomly on the right hand side column so u can check them out...so naturally its kinda prestigious if u're featured, as ur pageviews/comments/exposure and all that will shoot up like rockets, and the exposure is really good, so...i was wondering how come u were'nt featured or something being so bloody good and all.

but it's alright tho if u don't really know the keywords and all that. the community's really friendly and nice...its really like one big happy family, so i'm sure pple will try and help u when they can if u get stuck or something, not to worry.

YEAHHH about batman begins!! i watched it twice and couldn't get enough...was in Batman frenzy for the longest time...i think i still am tho, haha! this is really the ultimate batman movie EVER, and they really should've just gone in this direction in the first place! i admit tho, i was a little apprehensive about Christian Bale taking on the role, as i've not seen him in any other show...but his portrayal of Batman really showed his stuff, so that's good. he really *is* batman...ultra cool stuff.

oh, and i just noticed u read terry pratchett...my bro reads him too, and i havent been able to find the first book in the diskworld series to see what it's like and get started on him...but from what i hear, his books are bloody hilarious and stuff...so...oh well. good to know we have a couple of things in common tho. haven't talked like this to pple in a while now since they're mostly different.

u sound really promising, so im off to check out ur gallery now. seeya around!

Well yeah, you've got to be a bit of a perfectionist to be able to develop a talent. Sloppiness and lazyness will only get you so far and most probably the lazy person will tire of whatever he/she is doing since nothing seems to happen for them in the long run. Maybe to pick up something else to be sloppy about, who knows But I agree, I am somewhat extreme in my detailing but when I paint or draw I go from area to area, obscuring everything else around it and putting all my focus on the little part of the artwork I'm currently working on to such an extent that it for the duration of the period I spend on it becomes the whole picture, hence I put all my effort into tiny little parts because I view them as small paintings of their own wich in the end make up the complete artwork. If I put that much effort into one part of the picture I feel that I have to put at least as much on all the other parts of it too, otherwise there won't be any balance in the finished artwork. So... perhaps I'm over- diligent in my work but I'm happy with the results. Sometimes it's a slow and tedious process though but I have the tendency to think that quality must always preceed over quantity because quantity without quality has no worth. That's my opinion at least.

Btw, girls who read comics isn't geeks, I think it's great that you do. Comics has always been one of the most underrated art forms and most of the time it hasn't been considered as art at all wich is so far from the truth it could possibly be. Comics is one of most advanced and difficult forms of art ever existed. As great as illustrations and paintings can be they're still inferior to the art of telling a story with small pieces of artwork. It's considerably more than just draw up a few panels and then draw whatever you like, you've got to account for pacing, balance, layout ( both pagewise and panelwise ), details, dynamics, you name it. And you have to do it all the time, not just in one picture. As far as I've come to understand it very few painters becomes good comic artists because they simply can't grasp the flow of the storytelling since it's very different from one- shot picturing where you have to focus only once. When they have to put it into sequence the difficulties arise. The true comic artists always gets my greatest respect and someday I hope to earn the honour of being counted among them myself. Someday, who knows...

About the DD thing, yeah now that you mention it it's pretty obvious what it stands for, considering this is deviantART and all Yes that would be nice but I guess I'm not good enough for it yet or perhaps I'm too narrow in my art. I dunno, really.

Batman Begins, what a movie As for Christian Bale, he's starred in a lot of movies, among these "American Psycho" is one of the better ones IMO and the one he made prior to Batman is called "The Machinist". Incredibly good movie and his devotion to the movie is among the most extreme that I've ever encountered before. If you happen to pick up a copy of it you will understand why. The man's insane and that's what makes him so damn good an actor apart from being just a very cool dude. See it if you can, it's bloody good.

As for Terry Pratchett, yes he's one of my easy- time fav's. He's always entertaining and there seems to be no end to his inspiration and ingeniousness. He just keep on putting forth book after book and there's almost always very good parts in each and one of them. Another fav of mine is a writer that for some mysterious reason I've only twice encountered another person who knows about his works. Jack Vance is the writer and his works is among the best I've ever had the pleasure to read. His english is beautiful and mixed with his incredible sense of storytelling, imagination and wonderful sense of humour he mostly put forth masterpieces of literature. He has won the Hugo award, the Nebula award and the World Fantasy Award and to quote the back of the cover of the book on my desk "has recieved both a Grand Master Nebula and a World Fantasy Award for lifetime achievement". And no one seems to know about him. Apart from being very strange it's a damn shame, he's the best. I strongly recommend his works.

Finally, yes it seems to be a nice and friendly community. I have yet to see any quarrels anywhere or abuse of any sort. Goodie indeed

Wow, long post. Sorry 'bout that.

its true what u say, tho being a perfectionist in every aspect of it can kill u sometimes...u nitpick so much that u jsut hate looking at it anymore. sometimes its hard being an artist, as a layman doesn't see the amount of effort u put into these pieces of art, and just glance at it for like 3 seconds and go "wow...nice..." or something. it's quite sad they don't see the effort u put into the pieces, and how it's kinda taken for granted. i do see the tremendous amount of effort in that he-man piece u had, and i really like it very much. 2 1/2 weeks of consistent tweaking takes alot of patience and attention to details, and i'm awed at ur tremendous amount of patience. i'd probably just scream and tear my hair out till i go bald by then, but hey, u're the experienced one, not me.

i do agree that quality preceeds over quantity, so no argument there. but now being in school and all, sometimes i have to cut corners to meet deadlines, so i'm still kinda bummed about that now and then. its the feeling like u coudl've done alot more with more time and u're not happy with the work...i think u know the feeling. but i guess being over-diligent helps, as u are proud with each piece that u do and can call it ur babies. that's art at its best.

thanks again for the support, most probably would find it strange. i do think that comics are a form of art, and a very challenging one at that. u have to know how to illustrate, shading, and all that...but if u can't layout and do the text properly, it won't be a good one. so, it really takes patience and alot of skill to pull it off. i totally do agree with u on ur comment, and it's really great that u do see the challenge of it all. and i personally feel that u're almost there; u just need to really put one out, that's all. i see the talent in ur drawings and shadings, and now that i've seen the way u write, i'm quite sure u can pull it off really well, even though i haven't seen ur layout and pacing. that's already half the battle one i think, u just have to get down to it that's all.

DD wise, i guess it takes alot of patience. i don't doubt ur talent at all, and i think most who were mentioned have been here for ages and really deserve the credit. they have millions to go through, and i do hope they find their way to ur shores someday. i have been here for a while now, and i doubt i'm good enough for that kinda recognition, but u're a different case altogether having had so much experience doing this. don't worry about it, most of the time it comes unexpectedly, so just continue doing what u do best and hope for the best.

haha, yeah, Batman rocks. Hmm...i've never really heard of "American Psycho" and "The Machinist", but i might check them out someday when i'm free-er. school's a killer right now (i'm suppose to be working on something right now for school, but guess where i am, lol! shhh!) i just hope i remember them...i have very horrid memory when it comes to things like that.

Hmm...Pratchett wise, i guess it's really no surprise u like him, since most fantasy lovers do. i have yet to check him out, but i do hope i can judging from the positive responses i get from most pple. Jack Vance tho, i haven't really heard of. i ought to check him out too now that u've mentioned it. it's really wierd tho, especially since he's won alot of awards...how come noone's heard of him? strange...i thought he'd be really well-known by now. hmm...i'll check him out when i can, thanks! hope i remember that too...

haha, yup, the community's nice, so don't worry about it. there was a big hoo-haa with the makers of DA a while back, but i don't think u'll wanna know, it's a long story, but there were divided loyalties and all that, so DA became a little unstable then. for now, it's alright, so i guess no news is good news. dont look for trouble tho, it's really not nice...i have seen some uglyness in here, so just watch ur back occassionally yeah?

wow...i'm glad i made it through this comment. thnaks for taking the time to reply to me now and then, and being so descriptive and insightful about it. i dont get this very often, even though i do like lengthy comments very much. thanks for reading, and replying! don't worry about lengths, i'm sure the pple here don't mind it at all, especially when it helps to improve their art.

Yeah sometimes I tire of my work or a specific piece I may currently be working on. So I just put aside if I do and just pick it up at a later time instead. Can sometimes be a prudent move too since you get another perspective to it if you hold it off a little.

Alas, yes, I have too have had to sacrifice the quality of my work many times in order to manage the deadline and I've hated it every damn time this have occured.

No worries about the support, even guys who read comics get the suspicious and belittleing eye from others who doesn't understand or perhaps thinks themselves to be so grown up that moss is growing in their butts. Comics is far from the kidddies world only, actually as a matter of fact a lot of comic books are not for kids at all since they often don't have the understanding and general knowledge required of certain comic books, or they're just not suitable for kids.

As for the DD thingy, well as much as it would be nice it really isn't that much of an importance for me. Not at them moment anyway and since I don't really know what it's like to get that kind of attention it doesn't matter if I get it or not. I get more attention as it is now than I usually had prior to me becoming a deviant so it's enough for now .

Dunno why people don't seem to know about Jack Vance and his masterpieces. It's a complete mystery to me.

Don't worry about forum/community being ugly on my part, I can hold my own Thanks for the concern though.

No problemo about taking the time to answer your comments, I just have to find it and then I get to it. I try to manage every comment I get but sometimes I just can't make it and a few falls behind. But I do try at least seeing as you people are showing me respect in your comments about my work and I feel that I have to return them by common courtesy and decency myself. Every relationship you have with another person, however shortlived it might be swings both ways so of course I return the comments
Thank you for thinking me insightful, mind you. I sometimes get the feeling that I must be a bore to communicate with since I tend to rant in long posts

hey...so sorry i took so long with the replies on ur pieces and the one we were ranting on about. been really busy with school and all, but it's alot better now.

i have no idea whether u got the screamy teenybopper comment thing about congratulating u on the DD...lol. sorry about that outburst, i could'nt help myself. was so excited seeing a friend being featured and all, u being the first one. that is of course, if u regard me as one. hope that it didn't scare u too much.

hmm..i understand putting pieces aside and forgetting about them, and when u do pick them up again, u go like "man, wth was i suppose to do with this thing??" or gain a whole new view of it...and the result of that can be....well, disastrous should i say. either that or it becomes something that u never planned on having, which of course, can be a good thing.

just submitted a deadline thing recently, and i'm really not happy with it. plus the fact that most of the comments i got were negative, it didn't sit very well with me, so im still hating myself for cutting corners and stuff. it's hard to live with stuff like that, so don't do it often yes? i'd hate to see ur work being substandard and all, being so damn good at what u do...

i guess stereotypes of those who read comics are quite hard to get rid of, considering its kinda...well, kiddish to some pple as u've said. but we'll just like 'em for what they are, who the hell really cares right? some aren't meant for kiddies anyway...the storylines get confusing sometimes, especially when u don't read them in order...been happening to me lately to the latest ones i've been reading...oh well.

so if u didnt get the congratulatory msg, then congrats mate. hope it felt pretty damn good, and now i can say "i toldja so." toldja it was only a case of sooner or later, haha. plenty of exposure, so hopefully u'll get more commenters about ur work and stuff like that now.

community-wise, im sure after the DD, u can see the showers of love coming ur way for ur effort on details and such. so i hope u enjoyed the fawning of attention for a bit.

after all that attention, u probably might be struggling to catch up with comments here and there, so dont worry about it. i'll have to find time to get to ur other 3 comments (i think) too. naturally, much more wordy ones like tihs one will take some time to type out and such, so it's alright if u don't reply as fast as u want to, i just really appreciate the lengthy replies i get in return. i'm glad u appreciate the comments i did on ur work tho, i try to as much as possible, especially if pple appreciate them or are deviants i know. hopefully it wasn't as shortlived as u thought, cause im here to flood ur comment boxes with comments once the deviants start coming in again. hope u don't mind the attention! and the flooding of course.

LOL! about ur comment...u are not boring at all dear mig! i really enjoy reading and typing these comments to u, and they're really insightful as i've said. it's really interesting to hear what u have to say and try to reply them in my own way....sometimes i rant too much tho. so no worries about the long posts, or the spelling errrors, cause i tend to mispell everything too once i get into the comment and not care about anything else...sometimes i get too eager to press the send button too soon u see, heh. it's a pity u cant edit them later tho, but each tihng u come across has its flaws that u live with, so it's alright.

ooo...i see new deviations frm u i think, so i'll be off to comment on them once i finish seeing what u said about ur 5 character thingies.

hope it was good while it lasted!

Comments can be really time- consuming actually, more time than I've got on my hands nowadays but I most certainly don't mind them at all Good to hear that I'm not a bore after all btw but since you appreciate long replies then perhaps I am now since this one will be a short one

Yeppers, coolness in the making ( or at least I think so Dunno what you guys are going to say about it when I finally can submit it though ).

Eh... I changed my avatar again... somehow I don't really see the connection between me and something that looks like a deviant- boob with an insanely blipping nipple so... now I've got the ink bottle up there instead. Well the Noir work is starting to draw to its end soon ( in a month or so ) so I'm going to have a little chat with my colleagues to see if they're ok with me submitting a few of the pieces at least. Also the CD- cover for Screaming Silence will be finished sometime next week so I'll have something for you then Got a little selfportait going as well along with another comission from a nearby restaurant- owner who wants me to do the pieces for the five somewhat large panels above the bar. Babylonian theme on that one Oh and 'Red Sanna's partner in crime is in the making too. Things move.

And yes, your avatar is nice, arouses curiousity as to what the whole face looks like

and a self portrait...wow. i get to see how the ever-amazing mig looks like! haha...but i don't really get the panels stuff tho...u mean like paintings? or like gigantic inking stuff for the restaurant? sounds really cool in any case...

ooo thanks for the comment on my avatar...sadly i'm very camera shy, absolutely hate taking photos (being in them that is) and look strained/fake in them, so that's the best my friend the photographer could do i guess for the graduation books we were part of...heh, heh. i thought it was kinda cute in any case, and decided to just use it here since i'm sick of the other one, lol. glad u like it!

Noir is the new RPG ( roleplaying game ) I'm currently working on.

I think there already is an old portrait of me in the gallery but it needs an update, see if you like the upcomming one About the panels, yes, it's paintings I'm talking about. Starting work on them next week, hopefully it'll work out to a good effect.

Being nervous around photos of oneself is an oldie, most seems to hate seeing themselves in photos. I always looks like a dope in them but I don't really care, I'm not on any billboards or anything so it's ok

ahh...i checked the old portrait out, very very cool. very wolverine-ish as someone has said, and it probably reminded me of it cause of the 3rd installation of the X men movie coming out, so...heh. very fierce, intense and intimidating that one...u gonna scare us somemore with a new one?

in any case, i hope the paintings go well, especially since it's a restaurant and all...sounds very interesting, i hope u put pics up of that too!

Yeah I've been doing RPG's since 91', one of my main fields. Unfortunately most are in swedish only and this one aint no exception but there's been some talk of expanding if it hit the market well enough so who knows... maybe you get to play/see it as well. For now you'll have to be content with the artwork I'm going to submit from it

Thx for the comment about my self portrait, didn't take me long to make but it's dead on as far as I've been hearing. But I thought a new one would be appropiate since I've matured a little since then. See if I'm as "impressive" on that one

Btw, X- Men 3 me drools big time, can't wait til it's released. This one's going to be the bomb, I'm totally sure of it must see must see. And we get Juggernaut and Dark Phoenix as well! JUGGERNAUT!!! Can it get any heavier than that? *Sigh* the release is taking too long

Ahhh okay...well, that's kinda sad to know, especially since i'm a games person too. But hopefully u guys manage to get a english version of it down somehow, so that i can try it out.

lol about ur comments received on ur self portrait. matured considerably since then eh...must've been the marriage that made u look older, haha! i'll see whether you're....impressive, as u put it.

speaking of which, I just got back from watching Xmen3 just now...and i must say it was very disappointing. I wasn't impressed, and it was only an hour and a half!! goodness...my brother and i came out complaining and pointing out the plotholes in the movie, and it was a bad ending for the movie, considering there were so many questions unanswered. i could go on and on, but i'm not sure whether u've seen it, so i won't spoil it for you. just don't keep ur hopes up though...cause pple who read the comics like u and i will definately find it a disappointment, so...yeah. I know the feeling of anticipation, i desperately wanted to see it when it opened...last i heard it opened her much, much earlier than anywhere else, so yeeha! on that. i waited like months, years maybe for this one...only to find it so...unsatisfying. it's sad really. i blame it on the director, bryan singer for leaving xmen3 to go make superman...grrrr.

consolations wise, at least the superman trailer's super cool and looks interesting tho. check it out sometime, especially the end of it. really cool!

About the portrait, I don't look that much older, just a little beardier and harder, that's about it I think. I age very slowly for some reason. Shame the sides of my head aint down with the program though, too much grey hair

I'll report your desire to try the game, maybe if more said the same I could convince them that it's a rather good idea

lol! about the white hair on the sides of ur head...reminds me of reese from fantastic 4 tho. does it resemble that? haha...it's kinda wierd it just grows there and not anywhere else...i thought white hair just grows wherever the hell it wants anywhere on the head instead of situating itself on one area....strage. but ageing slowly's a god-send u know, esp. to females. be glad u have it man, i'm sure many girls would kill for that kinda thing...haha.

DUDE!

i just saw Superman a couple of days back, and damn i'm not satisfied, mainly cause there was a annoying couple sitting beside me that irritated the shit outta me and the friend i went with's phone kept ringing every 20 mins, plus there was some drilling from some construction work in the building i could hear from not too far away from where they were showing the move...bloody hell. it was friggin' 2 hours and 45 mins, but damn they look hot. i'm gonna see it again soon i hope, but it's bloody cool. i question the accuracy and some stuff they added in the movie, but i guess bryan singer wanted to leave it open for superman fans/comic book readers. need to ask u questions about the movie, so catch it quick so we can discuss it!!

wow, batman for the 4th time?? awesome, i saw it twice in the theatres and could'nt get enough...they're showing it on cable soon, so i'll catch it again then. man, the superhero movies are getting better and better. let's hope that some crazy director will be crazy enough to do smth like JLA or JSA or some crossover b/w characters, or maybe even explore the superman vs batman thing, especially since some of the superheroes are good friends/buddies which can be really fun to show/play with CG-wise and kick serious butt! that'll be super cool eh?

Superthong's not up here yet. It'll be here soon though, can't wait Let me get back to on this subject when I've seen it.

Batbrat's a good movie so it's worth it. Terminator2 is another one I've seen over and over again, bloody good one too but The Hitcher ( the original, good version with good old Rutger Haur as the villain ) is probably the one I've seen the most times. Can't really say how many times since I simply don't know. Awesome movie, if you haven't seen it, pick up a copy of it and see it. There's no way they can enhance this movie in any further way in the remake they're putting together now and all who's involved in the project should be buried neck down and stoned to death for attempting it.

For cross- overs to work we need to get this superhero thing going on a more general and frequent level, people would have to get to know the characters more first. It's a shame there's not really that many people reading the comics since a lot of ( the kids among others ) have no personal attachment to the characters or thhe comics they belong to. Ask a kid these days if he knows who Spider Man is and he'll very likely say he's a huge fan because he's played the games and seen thhe movies. In order to be a fan you have to know the background story and all in it by heart wich you can't know from the movies or games only. Since I grew up with all of that I guess it makes me a fan, after all I can draw because of it and I do know a lot of old school stuff in the superhero world Would be cool though for us real fans to see a few cross- overs though.

Btw, if you haven't already seen it, take a peek at it here [link] All I can say is... wow, just wow

ooo...i see u changed ur icon again. looks kinda metal-rock/tattoo/badboy-ish...interesting, considering that i never thought u were that kinda person...heh.

dang man, i really, really hope u've seen x3 and superthong...they're kinda long gone now, i hope u had a chance to see them man. then we can bitch about them...haha!

pardon me while i laugh at ur wierd distortions of superman and batman...batbrat and superthong! T2 ive seen countless times, but the hitcher i havent heard of tho. hmm...they are remaking it u mean? man u must be peeved about that...

hmm...yeah, its sad they cant really do crossovers as yet, considering the superficial level the common public has of the comics, so its a damn shame. but well, personal attachment wise i really can't say, considering i didnt start reading them till a few years back. well, at least old schoolers like urself can educate the ignorant like me about such stuff...haha! ah well, u can't blame kiddos now for only knowing the games and movies u know, considering that was the only exposure they have to the superheroes, plus the fact that they dun have access to the comics as much as u probably have in the old days, so it's hard for them to relate. i didnt get to read them till my bro borrowed them in bulk from time to time from the library, and i just took them to read, so the ones i've read are all a mess and the more recent ones, so i guess that isnt so bad. see, at least pple like u are still hanging around to show the ignorant the meaning of superheroes! hehhehe...but it would be cool tho, if they manage to get it going.

yeap, ive seen the spiderman 3 trailer couple of days before u sent me the comment, and yeah, that was my exact reaction when i saw the trailer...can't wait for it and what's gonna happen, i love the mood of it and stuff thus far. and so the anticipation builds!

what are u working on now btw? anything exciting?

Hello again dark Yeah, I felt that the ink bottle didn't come into it's own right at that small size so... I changed to Craniac instead, another one of my precious and probably useless icons. Btw, the ink bottle looks so damn good on my Mac, the screen's a hell of a lot better than my PC's screen. oooo I love my Mac, we're dating me and my Mac. Get one and you'll see what I mean

But as to being a "metal-rock/tattoo/badboy-ish" guy I dunno. I apparently look the part according to some. I hear all the time that I should get a tattoo of my own since I look like a guy who wears one ( or more ) and many people are actually surprised that I don't have any tattoos on me. Since I started out lifting weights again 3-4 days a week since last Xmas I'm beginning to get pumped up a bit so perhaps I should design one for myself after all so to not disappoint people Hell, even my 8 year old son thinks it would be cool hehe. He thinks I'm the strongest guy there is next after The Hulk and Superman and actually snapped a photo of me right after I came home from the gym last week Problem is, I have no clue what to put on me if I do make this choice so... It must mean something to me, no lame- ass tribals or similar for me. I've been thinking about it for many years now but still no idea what to do...

As for kids not knowing the background in super hero comics these days is, like you said, understandable. The computer age is in great part to blame for this. It's a sad thing since the comic age of the past was a great thing, presenting worlds and characters you could dwell on forever if you liked since you could take your own time going through the stories and such. Now you have to rush through a computer/console game to reach the end and then it's over, you don't get to know anything about it. Of course, lots of people, both young and old still read comics but it's not what it was. Ima go cry now...

Still haven't seen either Superman or X- men yet, simply haven't had the time for it or when I have had time for it I didn't have the money to spend on it, been in need to keep it for other stuff instead. I will get around to it though What I do saw yesterday though was V for Vendetta... man... what a movie, what a MOVIE! Highly intelligent and thought evoking stuff, I love it!. This is a movie that's not about violence or such stuff but to express a thought. Violence ( damn beautifully moves btw ) does exist in abundance in it but not as a means to an end. If you haven't already seen it: See it. You will not be disappointed. Wonderful stuff and an excellent cinematic interpretation of a comic book- series. One of the best as a matter of fact. Now for Spider Man, YUM! Btw, there's also a Hellboy2 in the making!

About work, Noir is drawing to it's end now, I'll start working on the cover tomorrow and make the final sketches of the final illustrations. Right after that I'm starting out on doing a hundred or so of Western- illustrations until November. Dunno how that'll end since I'm also starting out studying 3D- modeling and similar the next two years, starting September 4th. Lots and lots to do I gather. In the meanwhile I have a few odd jobs to attend to as well, like a few portraits and stuff. Ooh my weak heart, how AM I gonna cope...

Thank you. As always I find spots here and there that I could've done way better at so I think I'm going to make a larger one after all. I'm already working on another in ink and it's huge. Previews will come way later on though.

that is fantastic, the colours are brilliant, browns, reds and greens really work, it gives the right dark atmosphere, but the picture is not discoloured. It is believable because of the realism and detail, the compostion is brillant; the way you have the man in the centre and the huge wolves on his two sides. You also have dimension there, so the painting isn't flat and there are things behind and infront of one another. It is so action packed, there is so much there and alot to take in. Your eyes are intially drawn to the man in green in the centre and you study how his hair is moving, the muscles in his legs which projects him as obviously strong and powerful, the twist of his body that makes his movement so obvious and believable, and his fierce, clenched expression. Next you see the blood which is bright against browns greens and greys. The lighting is superb and appears an army is coming from under the picture frame. The wolf men are facinating, the way you have postioned them is superb, they act as a frame around the centre man, like those 3 are trapped in a circle and fighting from all sides it is good way of framing things in a picture because it is unexciting to have them in a line - if you see what I mean.

Fantastic, to be put quite simply, the only thing I can suggest now is trying the same thing on a larger scale - a picture like this big would be incredible don't you think? And you can pile even more into it. Can I just ask what inspired you?

MiG-05 In reply to EmmaT [2006-01-14 18:24:26 +0000 UTC]

Wow what an analysis of this one, thank you As to making another one in larger size I would gladly do so if I had the space for it. Paintings of a larger scale always takes up a lot of space for me since I tend to spread things around me when I paint and my wife would go ballistic if I did. I made a fairly large portrait last summer of two little girls asleep in a trolley and the only spot here that was availible to me was in our front hall, blocking everyone when I did so... when I get the space for it in other words

Inspiration for this one? Well I dunno really, I started out with the left eye of the guy in the center and everything just grew from there. I didn't use any rough guidelines of any sort for the picture as a whole, I just sketched it up as I went along finishing various parts of it. What motivated me from start was the position and angle of the centered guy. Sometimes it only takes one line in a sketch to set me off going crazy with details and make a finished artwork, or it might also go the opposite way. So where I do get inspiration from can be very hard to say many times. My son is my main inspiration but other than that I dunno. I just love doing what I do.

its a good way to work just working outfrom a centre spot, I used to do that, its probably something I should do more, art education narrows your mind, and my work more and more planned unfortunatly.

It's good your doing what you love - keep it up!

Thank you, I thought so too after I made the first inked version of it. Every time I happened to take a look at it I felt kaBAMM! so I just had to make a painted version. The guy in the middle looks like a mixture of Thor and Lestat. The Thor- part is obvious considering the axe and the "smiting" pose, the Lestat- part has more to do with him being blond and obviously enjoying himself rather tremendously I think. Just like he would had he been there

I know, there's a slight risk of that but I what I wanted to achieve was balance more than anything with this one and since I had the same red tone in other parts of the paining I thought it would be a good thing to make the blood the same color

Blacklotuscomic [2005-11-15 14:56:57 +0000 UTC]

It's a very bright piece, You must be a master to be able to make something like this but the bright red for the blood seems a weird choice, doesn't it pull the attention away from the characters?
