I prefer Amedot because I see Pearlmethyst as an intimate brotp and I currently have no real opinion on Lapidot just that I notice it's everywhere in the fandom.

Its funny because I see Amedot as brotp xD, I just never understanted, Peri saved Ame once and fandom got wild while Pearlmethyst got so much beautiful moments in the show, and their relationship became better ;w; //plus Ame and Pearl always blush when they compliment each other

I prefer Amedot as romantic since it's a lot more interesting and unique in my eyes. It has a lot of amazing potential to be a really interesting pairing. I see it as romantic on Peridot's end due to how many sacrifices she's made on her part to get to understand Amethyst's life better after meeting her. That may or may not be the case but that's just how I see it. I see the interactions between them as romantic on Amethyst's end because even though she and Pearl do have intimate moments, it doesn't resonate with me as much as her bond with Peridot does. Sure, Peridot and Amethyst haven't known each other for THAT long yet,, but neither did Rose and Greg when they first met each other, yet they fell in love almost instantly. I think that Amethyst is attached to Peridot because there's finally another young gem like her who's trying to understand herself as well as how the rest of the Earth works. Amethyst has been alone in that all this time, but now she's finally got a kindred spirit in Peridot, I believe. Kindred spirit and soulmate storylines have always been my romance pairing preferences.
I'm not denying there's a connection between Pearl and Amethyst at all. But I see them as more of a mother and daughter bond, surrogate of course. Sure, they fuse and have intimate moments. But I like to see fusion as a metaphor for the emotions involved in the relationship of the gems who fused. To me, Pearl and Amethyst have a more maternal family bond.Β I have seen the Lapis Lazuli and Peridot scene on Youtube, but I'm not on board with shipping it yet. It hasn't had enough emotions developed between the two for me at the moment. I'll just wait and see where they go before I judge their interactions.
