Description

Based on the Mountain class battlecruiser frame, the City class fast carriers became an indispensible part of the war effort. Although limited in capability compared to dedicated carriers, the City class had the engine and hull configuration of a battlecruiser, granting them the warp speed to keep up with fast battlegroups.

Lacking most of the heavy weapons of a battlecruiser, a City still mounted a large amount of phasers which, together with Battlecruiser shields, gave them a surprising amount of survivability.

In some configurations, a City class could carry over 60 combat craft, although for longer deployments 48 craft was considered a maximum.
