Tiamo means 'I love you' in Italian and I was feeling affectionate when she was named. Zapdos is probably my favourite non-Psychic or Steel type.

A lot of Pokemon are though. For example, my OC Janus is from the Pokemon world. He was turned into a pariah after his defeat of Team Magma in Hoenn, as the Government refused to accept such a humiliating security breach (Since when do Pokemon authorities do anything?)
He was also denied the title of Champion, which caused the current Hoenn champ to retire in protest. His team's a pretty ragtag lot too. Powerful, but mostly with a dark past.

His Gengar, Shade, used to be a Tauros but was kidnapped by Team Rocket; in the struggle, his leg was broken, the Rockets shot him and he awoke as a Gastly. His Chandelure, Teresa, can control her life-stealing power, but her attempts inadvertently cost lives; his Aggron, Steeler, used to eat railway tracks as an Aron, crippling infrastructure and once causing a fatal train crash; his Staryu, Shuri, got in a fight with a Gyarados before capture, and this sank a luxury yacht; and his Ferrothorn, Tourian, had nearly killed people many times while fending off opponents with Pin Missile. Only his Alakazam, Merlin, has a relatively normal past; Janus's mentor gave Merlin to him.

When I did a Ruby version Nuzlocke, it got me thinking, 'Why do you never get to be the champion, and how would the world react if a kid single-handedly took down a criminal organisation?' The former's probably a vested interest by the league, and the latter is essentially the government refusing to admit their incompetence. But rather than kill him, they discredited him. A few people know the truth and are helping him try to clear his name.
