"When I'm an apprentice I hope you're my mentor!" Badgerkit proclaimed, his huge green eye gleaming up at Badgerflame. "That way I can be Badgerpaw, and you'll be Badgerflame. Then I'll be made a Warrior and I can be Badgerfire and you'll be Badgerflame and we're be the best Badgers there ever were!"

Badgerkit rambled on excitedly about their like names, Badgerflame growing more uncomfortable by the second. His neck felt hot as he sensed the eyes of some of his clan mates on him. He stole a glance over at Snowfrost, who was watching her kit, a clear look of disgust opon her face. Her silent gaze said it all, "I would never let THAT dreadful cat be your mentor!"

Badgerflame looked back down at Badgerkit. This kit who had been given his name as nothing more then an insult to his. This kit didn't understand why he would never be his apprentice. By the time he was old enough he wouldn't want to be the apprentice of such an unloyal cat anyways.

Whoop, I gave up on the grass.

So umm, I kinda liked this scene, and I knew I would likely never get to this part in the comic, so I just drew it instead. Forgive my little bit of writing, I'm not much of a writer. ;;

Uhh, basically Badgerflame was named after his father, Badgerclaw, who died shortly before his birth. Badgerclaw was greatly respected in his clan, probably even more so then the leader at the time. (Had he not died he would have been leader about 3 more months down the line)

Badgerflame is not liked amung his clan mates because for one, he's sort of weird and really distant. And the main reason; he had been given an apprentice, but he later went to his leader and had her give his apprentice to someone else.

This greatly upset a lot of the clan, and when Badgerkit was born he was given the name in honor of Badgerclaw, his mother saying "Someone might as well live up to the Badger name."
