Well, according to Wikipedia: commission (art) is the purchase or the creation of a piece of art most often on behalf of another.
For example, this drawing that I drew for TheBlackBlurr? They paid for me to draw it.
It's like requests except the artist gets something in return which in most cases is money (sometimes can be art but those would be called art trades).
Artists often post their prices for drawing like I have here Commissions OPEN (Paypal and Points) when they are open for commission!
