Thank you! It was taken in Sibiu city, Romania. On my way back from office to home there is a place where an old factory was razed to the ground and now the nature is taking over the concrete. The flowers (especially the thistle ones) attractΒ butterflies and many of the photos in my gallery were taken there. This species in particular usually keeps its wings closed and I was lucky to capture it in this position due to a cold breeze. It's a male, females being brown colored. Just the day before this was taken I took a picture of a female (maybe I will upload that too) and sent it to a friend so I was happyΒ to complete the pair. She likes butterflies and was amazed by its colors.

I'll say it's a good phone camera!!!!Β Wow!Β I think this species is so very beautiful!!!!Β I had no idea though what part of the world they were from.Β I understand your excitement at finally getting the shot with the wings open.Β I've been to our local butterfly conservatory and chased one particular butterfly all around that place trying to get the beautiful blue color concealed on this wings that is only revealed when they open.Β I finally achieved it!Β I've not seen the female of this species or if I have I didn't realize that she is his counterpart.
