Nice shading here, not bad for a greyscale. Nice pose too, conveys the sense of motion very well.

LOL - I believe it! (Hey, it's a new medium - picking up new mediums is a slow and difficult task! So don't be too hard on yourself!
Hell, switching between friggin' digital art programs is hard in and of itself, LOL! After switching programs it took me months of getting used to it, before I was able to draw competently again. >_>;
Didn't know you had a degree in drawing! Although it's the first medium many artists pick up, not surprised there're classes & degrees around it.
Could you believe I used to do oil paintings? Yeah... Hammered together and built canvas frames myself.
Couldn't take classes or anything, though, 'cause I've never been able to afford that - so most of what I painted was total rubbish. LOL.
But good days, those were - just don't have the space for it anymore, sadly...
Still do a lot of ink drawings, though. Always good to stay in touch with ones traditional media roots!
(Sorry for rambling, you've got me feeling all nostalgic - haha! I'll stop myself before I start going into any gruesome painting stories. XDD)

Lol! Yeah... Really is expensive, traditional art. One of the many reasons I went digital and had to quit painting.
To try and cut costs I was using cheap scrap lumber, gross stained canvas from thrift stores & dumpster dives, for a while I was painting on cardboard. Half-used buckets of wall-primer I got off of craigslist... (One bucket turned out to be cracked, but it was cheap as shit, so I took it - and since I had to keep all my art supplies in my room, upon going to sleep I ended up getting paint inhalation poisoning - woke up sick & was throwing up stomach acid for a few hours... had minor visual hallucinations n' stuff, before passing out in the bathtub. >_>;
Was, uh... Not one of my finer moments, lemmy tell ya. XDD Woke up with one hell of a headache, but luckily I was OK.
Lesson for the kids: Don't sleep in the same room as your toxic art supplies! WOW, was I an idiot back then! Haha! (Probably still am.)
Oh - guess that counts as another upside to digital art: It's less likely to try and friggin' kill you. LOL.
Oh hey! You're using the same program I am, then!
Only recently found out that they changed the name from Manga Studio to Clip Art Studio... So was all confused n' such for a while, LOL Been using Manga--- I mean, friggin' Clip Studio for ....... God, has it been 5 years now?? Wtf!

LOL!! I know, right?? Got similar reactions when I was locked away in my room all day, painting as a kid - my mum would complain that she could smell it from the hall, and would yell at me for not being careful with ventilation n' such - but since our windows didn't have screens, bugs would fly in n' land in the paint - Lol! XD
I couldn't really smell it either... guess I got sort of desensitized to it after a while.
Yeah - it definitely blows Sai out of the water, in my opinion. Manga Studio used to be twice as expensive when I first got it, so it took quite a bit of saving for my 16-year-old self, haha! But was worth every penny spent!
Art's *definitely* therapeutic, though... I mean hell, why else would I go to such insane lengths to do it?
Was one of the few things that made me happy when I was younger - although I really, really couldn't afford it, lol... Was even shoplifting paint n' stuff when I was younger. Really regret going so far - I had a problem, no doubt about it, and wasn't being a very good kid... Was/am a bit of an 'art addict', I guess. Mellowed out a bit as I got older, though.

Ah, to be able to create metric ass-tons of art, without any additional costs...
Freedom~!
LOL.

haha dude, i'm still doing that. like, all the time. it's called "experimenting"
it's how you find exactly what you like and don't like about certain styles and then you combine all the things you did like and POOF! a style that is entirely unique to you that you are happy with! (i don't think artists ever stop doing this...even the pros)
