Ah, memories. The public school that I went to as a child taught me many things. Most of which have been completely wrong, since I've had to relearn them in recent years. I do not blame my parents for home-schooling me from age 12, I'd rather learn the truth, than what the teachers want me to believe.
LOL Global Warming!

Reminded me of what one of the politicians in Australia managed to do: he convinced enough people that Australia was headed for permanent drought, that they built a Billion-$ desalination facility.
Which is now mothballed and worthless, because they've been getting a lot of rain.

To be fair, the situation back then was pretty dire. Nobody ever said anything about perma-drought, but we where getting to the point where it didn't look like we were going to have any water any time soon, becasue it hadn't rained on the catchments for years. Only reason we're so full now is that we had 3 consecutive years of floods.

Actually, I just googled for 'Australia permanent drought' and got nearly 4 million hits, starting off with a number of news reports. However, I have also been given to understand that there are cycles to drought in Australia, which are tied to ENSO events, El-ninos to be exact. We've been in neutral ENSO conditions for the past year... I'm afraid your heavy rains are going to last a while yet.

Heh, I'm not complaining, better than having the council breathing down your neck about how much water your using all the time.
