Description A drawing I did for an ongoing contest on a message board I frequent. I was going to do a neck and maybe some of a body, but I only had a week and scales take forever. So I decided to just go with the head. I'm not too happy with the angle of the eyes, and I'd still like to do the rest of the dragon, but for now I'm satisfied with it.

i wouldnt have said that but thanks for trying to read my mind. what i would have said is "if dragons are too simple, why arnt there any amazing dragon pics in your gallery"

i am only posting my crappy stuff in my gallery... dont want anyone to steal my good and awsome ideas...
ive drawn many dragons.... that pic is still impressive....
a dragon has basic traits... wings, a tail, scales, horns... so on and so forth. to easy to draw one if know what doing. seen too many awsome dragons in my life, and dont really care anymore for them too much.

fair enough i get your point. but you can say that about anything; a parrot has a beak, coloured feathers, talons, wings and a tail..just because i know that does that mean i can draw an awesome parrot..hardly. i appreciate you saying the pic is impressive, thats all i wanted to hear from you. thanks

you cant just know the claw of the crab...you must know the size and shape of it...and the spikes on the claw ...and the direction of them...(and so on and so forth....for each part of the animal)

a dragon you make it up...directions and lenth and curve of everything...

with creativity and practice in drawing, could be too easy to make own up... there is a difference for drawing real stuff and illusions...
but for an efective illusion ,needs life in it... like arm and elbows of dragen and eyes with reconiseable parts...

i should of clarefide better...ealyer...

thanks for makeing me feel smarter than really am by trying to get me to think more than i have in awile...
if think of a comeback...
bring it on...
make me and you smarter....
i hope you have been geting smarter with me....really hope you have...
thank you for every thing else you did....
sorry if i ever offended you by accedent... im not good with words...

by the way...your gallery....interesting...very good...
there is a market for what you do...
so keep it up...
you might be the best in the bussiness of that sort of stuff...
...i wouldnt buy anything...but might pay just to see it in person...
...to scary to put your art in my house!
lol!
thanks again...

first of all thanks alot, secondly you made some good points. this is the way i see it..
ive seen a million dragons in my time, paintings, drawings, digital art, sculptures, etc...i also own 10 of the McFarlane dragons, so im fairly educated when it comes to the anatomy and design of a dragon. so even concidering those facts, if i were to sit and try to draw a dragon it would not come out looking as good as this one. so even tho knowing how one is made might sound simple, putting it together successfully is still a challenging task.

just have to practice.......
i dont think i could really make a dragon this good out of my mind eather......but if i used this on as a refernce and others like it, i would be able to draw a a perrty sweet dragon.

so in other words its easier to copy other peoples work rather than create your own. i will agree with you on that, but its only true art if it came 100% from the individuals mind.

well not others work exactly....use a real birds talens, a lizards head and goat horns....and twist it all up with my own stuff in my head....

art isnt only art if it came from 100% of your mind....its a 100% (and plus sum) of your heart and sole....
if you make something from your soul...it dosnt matter.

and when i said use that pic as a reffernce...i ment more as an isperation.

ps stuff in your head has been seen befor its just twisted and alltered dependiing how you "see" it.

Nice shading. You're certainly more patient with scales than I am.
