for some reason it reminds me of the surface of Jupiter... not that I've ever been there Maybe it's the title, ja?

Hi James, thanks for your comment!
This one's pretty much straight out of the camera, all I did in Lightroom was take the exposure in the sky down a quarter of a stop, because it was so bright, and raise the exposure of the sea by quarter of a stop. Then turned up the clarity and just a touch of vibrancy which made the yellow a bit clearer. In other words it was a bit more saturated at the beginning... It really was that red

wow thats some serious red sunsets theres been some amazing sunsets here in melbourne lately but i havent got a car at the moment so havent had a chance to get to any decent locations to capture them will get there one day. any tips you could divulge for capturing sunsets like that and getting such a rich colour naturally ? mine always seem washed out or faded or too over exposed or underexposed and so forth

Grab a bike, that's mainly how I get around.
I think just experiment cause every sunset is so different from the next. I take bout 100 shots for 1 or 2 good ones. The red is hard to get well, I generally shoot underexposed a little and I've found the best ones are at f8 or f11. At f22 you start to get the star effect looking directly at the sun. To get a perfect wide angle sunset a tip is to aim your camera up till you can't see the sun in your viewfinder, set the meter there, hold the button halfway then move down to include the sun and snap. The colours usually come out pretty good that way...
