Description What if you combined a Y-Wing fighter with a futuristic idea for a hover tank. When i made this i was working on a game called uprising 2. it was a futuristic 3d strategy game where the player played in a hover tank. at the time we went much farther into the future with our designs. This model is my take on something less far into the future. One of the features you see that's different is the multi-barreled gun. i was thinking of a real gun called metal storm. it uses an electronic firing mechanism that fits behind every bullet, and a barrel thats packed full of bullets. when the packets go off the bullets fire in sequence. its so fast that it basically puts up a vertiable wall of metal.

Really cool design!
I know of that electronic gun... Pretty crazzy stuff!

"re" the electronic gun.. yeah i think so too. electronics and pyrotechnics. no moving parts. that's whats so fascinating to me.

thanks. i tried to anchor the look in something that conveyed believably. although it would take something like a fusion reactor to keep something this blocky in the air for more than two seconds. if i was going to do another hover tank today it would be a ground effect vehicle with a very aerodynamic shape. a turret would be out i think, too much weight. the craft could just turn its body as fast. thanks again!

Charges being fired electricaly (like chaff/flares) is been around for ever... I am suprised they have never thought of using this approach with guns earlier. I think the concept is very basic, and efficient of course.

I still like what you have done!
As for rotating speed for the turret... A well implemented design can be extremely quick and much faster than what the body can do. (For exemple, look at ship's missile launchers). Because the turret is anchored to the a hard surface whitch is the main body. As for the body it will have to push through the air before it reaches the ground. every move will be delayed.
Also, can you imagine the vehicule moving in the field at 50 Km/h (30 Mph)and trying to precisely aim at a target while covering a 360 degree radius...

Just a few thoughts.

wow some good thoughts to mull over here. i have to admit this is a flying brick really. not to plausible on my part unless it has some wacky power source or the laws of gravity are re-written as we know it. i totally agree with you on turret design. keep it light and all business. the m1 fires on the go at high speeds over rough terrain so thats now possible with some clever software.

if i entertained the idea of a redesign it would look more like a ground effect aircraft with a light turret on top and alot of missiles. be more aircraft than tank in construction.

great thoughts. alot to think on
