Silver glow fills the empty void of Kronika's former lair at the edge of time. Fire God Liu Kang stands in front of the giant hour glass of time, his hands raised in the process of creation. In his mind he gives new life to entire realms, galaxies, solar systems, planets, countries, towns, quarters, houses, rooms, people. Thinking of people, a specific person comes to his mind and he has an idea. A little chuckle escapes his lips. A stern voice from behind him is alerted by the sound.

Raiden: "What are you doing there, Liu Kang?"

Fire God Liu Kang: "Huh?! Oh! Oh, nothing at all! Just working on the new timeline, is all."

Raiden: "Hmm... Must I remind you that mucking around with the creation of a brand new timeline can potentially have disastrous consequences?"

Fire God Liu Kang: "No, you don't. Not at all."

Raiden: "Good. Because it would. Even the slightest paradoxical alterations. Do you hear me?"

Fire God Liu Kang: "Of course."

Raiden: "We're all counting on you."

As soon as he is sure that Raiden has left, the Fire God Liu Kang again stares into the giant hourglass in before him. In its reflection, two shapes form in the glass: Two beautiful women, ravenblack hair, tight azure bodysuts wrapping around two perfect female bodies. Grace, beauty, sex appeal - How could he choose one of them? The Fire God Liu Kang smiles to himself. "Ah whatever, the more Kitanas, the better the timeline," he whispers as he allows a small paradox to exist in the new reality to be.

It's already out for some time now, but I've only just now have come around to playing Mortal Kombat 1! It's fun to see what Liu Kang came up with in this new timeline he created, the fact that this new universe starts off with a bit more hope than before and new chances for old adversaries!

Here's an unpopular opinion, however: I really really like the artstyle of MK11 more than the one in MK1. I know the designs in MK11 tended to almost be a bit overdesigned, but the characters felt iconic and distinct in their ways. I feel the art team of that game did not get enough credit for the crazy good job they did on their character designs. In comparison, the designs in MK1 often seem so... I don't know how else to say it... bland - except for Reptile, that dude is dope af

As for Kitana, I really prefer to ninja kunoichi style look she donned in MK11 to the "Dream of Genie"-style clothes she has here. I really hope NRS makes the old costume available in some form sooner or later! :/
