I updated this pic yesterday with a much cleaner more detailed version.
This actually looks like the real pic now!

I thought the boarder I added in my photo editor gave it a more finished look.
I'd love to hear any comments or tips

My pleasure. Great work! You are amazing with a pencil! Wielded more mightily than some of the flying weoponry you draw.

I love that angle, Looks so inviting! Thanks for sending that!!!

I was lucky to be able to handle N51PT, It was a beautiful TP-51 painted in the same style as Frenesi [link] The spinner was the same but It was a no name a/c. Some of the guys were lucky enough to catch a ride, But I didn't get that lucky...

The guy that owned it Charlie Ventters knew the mustangs were reaching a very high price around 250k then and he wanted to start an FBO at another airport...so he sold it... About 4 years ago I heard it crashed and burned shortly after it sold. Gawd I felt gut shot...I blew chow big time. I know...lol I'm weird, some machines do have a soul! That one dang sure did!

It was restored from parts of another Mustang and using the parts of the two they built Petie 3rd. [link]

I was glad it was back in the air, but it wasn't the same. That P-51 before the accident was a shame to be cowled up, Everything looked perfect that Merlin was gorgeous and the front of the blades were polished, Not a scratch anywhere! I haven't seen it in person since the restoration, But the pics online look ok, just not fabulous.

Again Thanks! for sending the pic!

Nice handling of your materials!
Just one critique: darken your darks! Otherwise a beautiful piece. I love 'stangs.

aaaa0000aaaaa In reply to RobAnybodyFeegle [2011-05-24 23:25:56 +0000 UTC]

That is good advice. Real good job. Try to mask the pencil marks by covering the darkest parts with many layers of led then smudge it or blend it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

RobAnybodyFeegle In reply to aaaa0000aaaaa [2011-05-25 03:22:13 +0000 UTC]

or maybe not smudge or blend, but allow optical mixing to give you your flat tone. sometimes it's best to let the eye fill in the blanks, especially when the darkest points are just the silhouette of several layers, for instance, the instrument panel of the cockpit as well as the shadow of the canopy, etc. That way your black isn't solid, just as those parts are not one solid piece.
