Description
This is just a quick changeling sketch i did after watching MLP "A Canterlot Wedding" again today.He might be a noble among the changelings since he got a more defined look and obviously has some magic in his horn, unlike the general changelings. Then again we don´t know much about the changelings...
I didn´t give him a name so far .... maybe he´ll get one later , i haven´t decided yet if i´ll develope him into a recurring character, but feel free to make suggestions

Recently I´m experimenting a lot with a more solid coloring method that´s popular in the concept art branch. First laying down some grayscale values, to get the light levels right, and then going from there <3 (although I use it pretty loosely, right now I´m not in the mood for strict studies .... rather wanna have some fun XD)
Wait till you see the finished Akai WIP on Y!gal .... I think you´ll like it, I have it laying around finished for weeks already, only thing left to do is erasing the not wanted parts but I´m too lazy to do that 
I already got more lineart of him and tried to settle on a design, but it´s so hard to decide which one to go for ..... and then there´s always the coloring >,<
I lean towards a slightly transparent milky rosé ... like that of rose quartz... but then again something blue-ish or green-ish would also be nice @_@

You know, I attempted working in grayscale first and then adding color but I got confused on how to add the color afterward in SAI. I've been wondering about that and the way you did it looks lovely. It's a style that definitely has character.
I've been waiting on that Akai! I've been checking Y!gal every few days just to make sure you've not posted it yet. I've been so excited to see the finished product! The grayscale on that looked amazing and had me near foaming at the mouth.
OOoh Rose Quartz would be lovely. I don't know much about the breed, but just the thought of Rose Quartz is gorgeous. Definitely unexpected and surely gorgeous. See, now you've got me all giddy over that color and I might just have to use it myself. ><

If you want to i can try to give you some tips sometime
The color adding is actually rather fun and easy once you have the gray values right.
Although i usually add color .... and then i continue a bit the normal way ... painting with color right on top of it ....
if you leave it right after the color adding part it tends to look artificial and unpersonal in my opinion
I´m still working on the Rose Quartz concept but he seems to be a bit too pink and i´m not sure how to fix that..

We love him! Maybe call him Quartz? He seems almost as if he were made from the material, and the sharp angles in his mane and tail suggest the mineral. Some of our staff are really attached to the idea that the changelings prefer the underground.

Nice idead, i really dig the name Quartz!
Since i drew him on a whim i didn´t do any check-up on background information... but i noticed that i should probably put some holes in his legs to stay close to the original changeling design.
Next time i´ll try to incorporate the crystaline aspect, i like the idea!
