Allthough it would be very hard to keep the two sets of tracks in perfict alinment, I would sugest laying them out as two sets of rails on one long tie, insted of two sets of tracks on two sets of ties.

I like your style a lot. It reminds me of my favorite books when growing up, which were all written/illustrated by Richard Scary. I'd sit for hours looking at the intricate detail, imagining being in these interesting places.
Your drawings are all the best parts of Richard Scary mixed with my love of trains and even aircraft.
