If old gold box fans are unaware of the gold box companion, you might want to check it out. So you can download all the gold box games at GOG easy as pie! Then with a free download of Gold box companion, you can adjust all kinds of thing in the games including graphics. Also you can hire npc's in Pools of Radiance and change their names and control them in battle, but they still take their part of the loot for their troubles no big deal as there is plenty to go around. So any way, GBC lets you change the monster graphics as well. The problem is, it was old as dirt so they only allow a certain type and amount of colors to work. So So far I prettied up some hobgoblins which I'll show soon. Only allowing 12 or so colors is still workable. the game registers each color as a part of the toon its self. So when creating, using all the varieties it allows lets you customize them in game. So I took some later graphics from newer, but still old gold box games and tossed them on pools of radiance to give me a new playing exp. Ankhs on the shields for a newer fighter look( similar to the avatar in Ultima games. I even took the fire knife battle avatar from Curse of the azure bonds( spruced it up and that's my rogues icon now. So if you want to relive the classic GB games of your childhood, I suggest GBC along with GOG.
