There are different ethnic groups living at the border of Viet-Nam and China. And you can tell what group they belong to from looking at their clothings. This girl belongs to the group called Flower Hmong.
Ethnic girls there get married quite young. I was there last December 2006, and could see with my own eyes, that girls as young as fifteen, sixteen, already carrying their tots in their back, while working.

The tropical heat is unbearable so it is not unusual to see people wear hats or walk with umbrellas. This looks dangerous with the movable child under the umbrella, but somehow the local people manage it well, even with children sitting in basket or standing between the rider's legs on some moving motorbikes.
