M14 EBR is Army designation. Mk14 Mod 0/1 is Navy designation. M39 EMR is Marine designation.

you are half right. when i was deployed a friend of mine was assigned the m14 and he was in an infantry unit which was squad based. but i also had another friend who was a scout sniper he had the m14, xm110, and barrett 50 cal(not all at once, depending on mission).

It's not the XM110 anymore, it's either the M110, or Mk. 11, depending on which branch of the service you're in.

Works for me. Of course, I don't plan on going to war any time soon...
But actually, from what I understand this weapon is most often employed by designated marksmen in a squad configuration, so in many cases, a spotter might not be involved. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please!)
