Toast, you're okay? Your eyes are watery.Yes, for you m8s who don't know Toast's not Mary and Ken's biological son. He's unofficially adopted.
His real mother has appeared once a while ago in this strip.

The real father however, is never shown till now. At least partially.
Toast's about 4 years old in this picture. He used to be genuinely cheerful.
Random Fact : It is unknown why the father left the family as Toasty's mother never and do not want to tell Toasty the truth. Because of this, Toasty assumed that he left for another woman and this assumption makes Toasty really despise his father ever since he left. Thus the burn mark on the corner's Toasty's action.
Random Fact 2 : However, the lack of his father's presence is the reason behind why Toasty is and struggle to be a top notch at almost everything from talents to abilities. As he does not want to be a burden to people like how his father's a burden to his mother. (Well in Toasty's assumption that is.)
Random Fact 3 : For those who don't know, Toasty's mother was killed in a robbery.

Simply put, his mum died, his dad disappeared somewhere and haven't came back. Toast has a grudge against his father for doing so, blaming him for the death of his mum.

Toasty is indeed a normal human. A super-multi-talented one that is.
His mother was a psychic and this trait runs in the family. (Toast however, only has the ability to telepath unlike his mother who can predict the future and other psychic stuff)
And his dark pasts may come out now and then but he'd set it aside as it doesn't matter now.
Despite being a kid at the time, he's able to think rationally and deal with his problems maturely.
