I love the Shadow and Light play in this. It really gives drama to the picture and gives a sense of depth and an almost 3D like effect on it. The dripping lava from its mouth and the fire is brilliant. I love the level of detail that has been put into this and the understatement of the trainer in the background is really good since the main object of interest is indeed the fiery Charizard. I would be interested to know how this picture was achieved and what art platform that was used to create this image. Thumbs up from me.

First of all thank you for the lovely critique!
To answer your question how I achieved this picture; I started with a quick and rough sketch 4 months earlier after deciding to pick it back up and start finishing it. Β
first I determined the grayscale and then I began colouring the piece with red hues. Whilst doing this I came to the conclusion that it lacked depth so I added a blue backlight + it also brought more tention to the atmosphere.
To bring the painting to life I finished it up with some fire particles that are flying around and some rays of light.
