Setting: The story takes place, I don't know, maybe a day after the whole ending.

A punch and a kiss. That was the only way Astrid would show any affection to Hiccup, but deep inside, the boy wanted just a little bit more, a walk by the bay maybe or a day watching the sunset or even just a quiet evening together. There wasn't anything wrong with that, right? He just didn't want everything to always end with a punch and a simple kiss.

The sun was beginning to hide behind the trees and the cold of the night crept along the west. Everyone in the village was beginning to hurry with their duties before it got dark. Not because of the fear of dragon raids, that was resolved a while ago, but by the fact that during this season the nights become longer than the days.

Near a shallow river the rhythmic cutting of an axe could be heard. Astrid had been out getting lumber since the early morning. It was a chore she hated direly but here in berk, everyone had their own responsibility. Some would get water, the others would slaughter the sheep and her job was to keep the whole village warm with firewood.

The only one with her that afternoon was her Nadder which was slumping lethargically near the pile of lumber. "So much for your company…" The blonde girl said. Suddenly, she wasn't alone. The breaking of branches and the ruffling of leaves sounded from behind her, after which, Hiccup came clumsily tumbling into the clearing.

The boy's Hair was ornamented with dead branches and brown leaves but he stood as calmly as he could and leaned on a pine tree. "Hey Astrid." He said while panting. Astrid snickered at the boy's failed attempt to look calm.

Even though it was pretty entertaining, Astrid shunned Hiccup and kept on chopping some lumber. She didn't have time for chit-chat. She had to get the lumber to the village or else she'd get a sermon from the elders. As she kept her rhythm with the swinging of the axe, she could hear the boy's footsteps from behind her coming closer.

"So, I was wondering if you had some time to hang out or something." Hiccup said with an uneasy voice

Still not wanting to get distracted, the girl didn't answer and just kept on swinging
her axe.

"So you know couples 'do' spend time together or at least talk to each other."

Astrid tried her best to block out the boy's persistent chatter but it turned from simple talking to annoying noise. The girl couldn't concentrate on chopping the wood anymore. She even completely missed the block of lumber a few times in a row. Sweat started to form on the blonde girl's forehead not because she was tired but because of pure irritation.

She could still hear Hiccup talking about watching the sunset or at least that's what she could hear. She turned her head to see the boy leaning on another pine tree. She covered her ears with her hands trying the best to stay calm. Astrid was getting more furious by the second until she couldn't take it anymore. She threw her axe at the boy and its blade stuck to the trunk of the tree about an inch beside the boy's cheek.

Hiccup's face became flushed and even more as he watched Astrid violently stomping towards him with pure rage pasted on her face. The girl gripped the boy's shoulders and stared at him dead in the eye.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO EXACLTY?" Astrid uttered as she grinded her teeth.

"Huh?! Uhhhhh nothing! Forget I said anything!...Please don't kill me!"

Hiccup trembled as the girl's grip on his shoulders grew stronger. Suddenly, Astrid let out a big sigh.

Her grip loosened and she bowed down her head. She pressed down on Hiccup's shoulders and sat him down on the roots of the tree. She then followed and sat beside him using the boy's arm as a head rest. She crossed her arms in front of her chest all the while keeping a straight face.

"Well? Start talking." The girl said with a serious voice

"Wuhh? Talk about wha--"

"YOU TOLD ME WE SHOULD TALK LIKE COUPLES DO! SO START TALKING BEFORE I
THROW YOU THROUGH A WALL!"

Hiccup was confused and at the same time terrified. He took a deep breath and looked in front of them. Actually, they 'were' watching the sunset…just not the way he thought they would. The orange and yellows conspired and filled the eastern horizon. The boy swallowed up his gut and decided to start a sentence.

"So uhhh…What's your favorite colo--"

"Blue…" Astrid answered swiftly

"Favorite food?"

"Ham…"

"Favorite dragon?"

"Nadder…"

"Do you like to dance?"

"No..."

"You know you look real' pretty today…"

Astrid was sort of stunned. Her expression changed completely and her face turned red.

"Stop trying to flatter me."

"No really. I mean it."

"Hehe, well, I like your freckles." Astrid countered said as she traced her finger along the boy's face

Hiccup followed up with other compliments, it seemed like it was the only way he got through the tough girl exterior. Well his plan did work in the end. Their conversation grew deeper and it was all happening as the sun went down. But as they were exchanging words, one yawned and the other followed.

Not soon after, both of them were drowsy in each other's arms and the sun was completely gone.

The cold of the night became more prominent and the two snuggled together to keep warm. Hiccup had his arms around Astrid and Astrid's head was resting on Hiccup's chest. The girl was completely asleep but Hiccup still had some last minute thoughts before giving in. "I really got through to her." The boy said to himself as he smiled gently. More minutes passed and the boy gave in too. It seemed like along with them, the world stopped too.

Suddenly, Astrid's slumber was broken when she heard the angry call of an elder Viking from the village. The voice came closer along with the rattling of branches. She quickly got up with eyes wide open. "Oh shi--"

She took hold of Hiccup's shoulders and violently shook him to wake him up. When the boy finally came around he was greeted by a strong punch to his arm. "That was for distracting me." Astrid said. Pausing for a second, she then gave the boy a little peck on the cheek. "And that's for everything else."

Hiccup was dumbfounded. He scratched the back of his neck and closed his eyes. He was pretty disappointed with himself

"I guess I didn't do enough. I'm still on square one…" He thought.

"She's still the same girl with the same old habi--"

His trail of thought was interrupted when Astrid pulled on his brown vest and passionately pressed her lips against his…"And that's because I love you."
