Some fan art for one of my favorite games called Magical Starsign which realllllyyy isnt popular enough XDhere we have the female heroine (who I always call Colette) floating in the air for whatever reason and a Mokka totally not looking up at her pantaloons XD
I'm really proud of this picture actually, its my first attempt at cross hatching and I think I did a good job at it XD

Crosshatching? I'm now looking at this picture way too closely. I'd assume you did it really well if I can't even tell.... Either way this is absolutely adorable and accurate and well done. Seeing art for this series makes me so happy.

cross hatching is basically all the little lines on the main character its just another way of shading

There really is no way to say that I know what cross hatching is without sounding defensive and somewhat hostile... Even saying that right there seems slightly hostile! Jeepers I can't win! But yeah, I've been through a number of art classes, I'm familiar, more familiar with it than I probably want to be...... Either way, have you played Magical Vacation?

It's cross-hatching in the shading sense, I taught her how to do it.
It's usually used in comics or concept art to help convey strong shadows or roughness, it's not exactly the same as cross-hatching as a drawing style, as that is creating an entire picture from overlapped lines, which is maybe what you're thinking of.
