Description Sure the packets may look pretty...but this stuff is BAD for you...and frankly I don't care if you don't believe me, I know it's true, just look up 'fake sugar' and see for yourself.

There's also multitudes of books, magazine articles...and that's all the proof I need. I refuse to put fake sugar into my body because my body is not made to digest that crap in fact, it doesn't even know how.

Fake sugar is made with aspartame, sucralose, and chemicals developed in a lab. It is not natural, and Splenda is lying to us, it is not made from sugar, it is sucralose-based and only looks like sugar.

Also, this crap is in EVERYTHING! I can no longer chew any gum because it has aspartame in it. I used to chew it all the time in high school because I didn't know. My brother actually orders a gum from the states. It is sweetened with stevia which is a plant and a more natural sweetener.

That's all I have to say about it. I always check ingredients and you should too.

Edit

I understand that some people do have diabetes and are unable to take regular sugar. I was not thinking of this when I initially made the stamp but some comments have made rethink some things and address this. This stamp is just my opinion on how I really dislike aspartame and sucralose. I will suggest some alternative sweeteners,

This is a website about Stevia: [link] it is safe for diabetics but I am unable to really find product prices. It's not that cheap because it's natural. It has to be a choice whether the price is worth it or not. If it was me, I'd spend extra to get it.

Xylitol is another sweetener and I don't know a lot about it...but from my research it is found in berries, mushrooms, lettuce and is even in us. It is manufactured from birch tree scraps. It is good for your teeth too, which is why a lot of people eat things with aspartame. Here is the Canadian website about Xylitol: [link] again I can't find any prices...but it might be something to look into.

Last week, I drank a Gatorade Zero for the first time, and I was intolerant with it because it does have sweeteners such asΒ sucralose in it.

I will check the ingredients next time before I buy stuff as I should too.

Ugh, I strongly dislike that shit! ._.

Some people (Especially those ones who make diet) don't notice that the real sugar is natural and more healthy than sucralose.

Well there's also stevia, honey and xylotol, all natural sweeteners that people can easily buy now. I always try to read the labels on things to make sure there's no aspartame and sucralose.

Well, in my opinion anything is better than Splenda XD because it is not natural, Truvia is made from the Stevia leaf, ^^

Milykins In reply to princedirk [2010-11-13 05:24:43 +0000 UTC]

I know it's hard for diabetics, there are some alternative options for sweeteners that are not artificial, I listed some in my artist's comments. The obvious difficulties with those are the cost, but my stand is that artificial sugars are not good for you, your body does not know what to do with them but it's their choice if they want to use them. Heck, tons of people still chew sugar-free gum. In my opinion though, if I was diabetic, I'd try the alternative option to ingesting sucralose and aspartame.

princedirk In reply to Milykins [2010-11-13 05:38:02 +0000 UTC]

Lots of things aren't good for us. I understand what you mean but, some people need that one nice thing, especially if their diet is horribly restricting. Food is comfort.

I had orthodontic work for 8 years. I could only chew sugar free gum during this time. Actually, I had to! Because not doing so drastically slowed the process. I had to constantly keep my jaw/teeth moving.

Milykins In reply to princedirk [2010-11-13 05:51:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear you had to do that, I used to chew sugar-free gum in high school all the time. I dunno, I know a lot of crap is unhealthy for you to do, I just try and do what I can to take stuff out of my diet, and frankly the horrors of artificial sugar scares me enough to not want to eat it but at the same time, I'll eat the 'bad' peanut butter or drink at parties and stuff like that, so I understand what you mean.

Milykins In reply to tearsofblood321 [2010-09-08 00:51:28 +0000 UTC]

I know, they totally lie about Splenda it's absolutely not made from sugar, it's created in a lab just like aspartame.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tearsofblood321 In reply to Milykins [2010-09-08 21:22:27 +0000 UTC]

I (for some reason) can't keep splenda down, I vomit if I take it, my doctor says it's nothing serious, I'm just one of those people who can't keep certain things down.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Milykins In reply to tearsofblood321 [2010-09-09 01:14:07 +0000 UTC]

Well my guess would be that your body just can't handle the Splenda because it's totally unnatural...so maybe avoid it and try some more natural sugar alternatives, ^^

tearsofblood321 In reply to Milykins [2010-09-11 09:46:35 +0000 UTC]

skinnyveestamp [2010-01-25 14:33:29 +0000 UTC]

I'd just like to weigh in as a person that has blood sugar problems but still hates all of this fakey sugar stuff. I'd rather take in real sugar with moderation. If that means I have to avoid it altogether at times... that's fine.

The stamp is effective. It makes my skin crawl just looking at it. Really does remind me of some of the awful things I've tried. lol; Kudos.

Well I put up links to two natural alternative sweeteners so check those out if you want, ^^ if you can have sugar but in small doses there are a lot of choices like honey, maple syrup...carob, that are more natural than just granulated sugar.

johnercek [2010-01-24 22:51:51 +0000 UTC]

I hate it too- with apologies to the diabetic above me, (i understand, my dad was diabetic). But i can't stand the taste of the crap- I prefer it unsweetened versus fake sugar.

Agave sweetener though- that shit rules.

I would love to find out more about more natural sweeteners, I only know of Stevia, I can't stand the taste of aspartame or sucralose and it really sucks not chewing gum.

kat-in-the-box [2010-01-24 22:26:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm diabetic and I'm someone that enjoys sweetness in their drinks, so I HAVE to use fake sugar since regular sugar causes my limbs to go numb. Even a candy cane causes shit.

and I'm someone that reads the ingredients in things. A LITTLE bit of "fake sugar" isn't bad. God.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Milykins In reply to kat-in-the-box [2010-01-25 02:09:55 +0000 UTC]

Okay relax, this is MY opinion lol, and honestly I was not thinking of how a diabetic lives their lift, I know it must be hard. I was more thinking of people who think they need to take it to lose weight or don't know the harmful effects. I'm not trying to start any arguments here. I'm very sorry you have diabetes, I would suggest looking into 'Stevia' as a possible sweetener, it's natural.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kat-in-the-box In reply to Milykins [2010-01-25 02:13:53 +0000 UTC]

I would probably get Stevia, but we always get the generic cheap brands because money is an enormous problem for us.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Milykins In reply to kat-in-the-box [2010-01-25 02:23:11 +0000 UTC]

That's understandable, I don't know enough about alternative sweeteners, that are affordable, and natural stuff is always more expensive. I am sorry that you have to take the artificial sweeteners, I know people who are diabetic but when I was making the stamp I wasn't thinking of the difficulties one with diabetes might have. I will address it in my artists comments and maybe try and look for some natural alternatives.

"It has to be a choice whether the price is worth it or not. If it was me, I'd spend extra to get it." Uh. wow. :[ I have BAD financial problems. Like, very bad. We're close to cutting off the internet (like the phones). It's not a choice for us. To be honest, I would LOVE to get Stevia because it's healthy and wouldn't cause me to go "numb", but I cannot.

Fake sugar may be bad for you, take a look at the world of a diabetic for a second. Too much regular sugar is just as bad for us, we have to rely on alternative sources of sweetening to keep our carbohydrate intake lower.
