Personality: Shy and quiet at first, Marley takes a little bit of time to warm up to others. However, once you get her started, she has a hard time shutting up. She looks very bookish and introverted, and she is to an extent, but she’s also warm and passionate, maybe a bit of a motormouth at times. She’s usually fairly anxious and thus ends up saying way too much, stepping on people’s toes in the process of conversation (metaphorically speaking). Because of this, she is reluctant to share too many of her own thoughts, but is willing to at least go through very basic small talk with people. At heart, she’s really just a nervous country girl with very little idea how to make friends with people her own age.

Magi Form: Post-transformation, Marley's confidence skyrockets. She's still new at the puella magi game but she fights her hardest to make sure she makes it through in one piece. She's rather intense and mistrustful, not accepting much help from others in fights and preferring to stand on her own two feet. She knows there's internal battles within the magi community - her science-wired brain asks a lot of questions and assumes competition for resources is always at play - and she wants to avoid them as much as possible. Not above a dirty shot or two, she'll do almost anything to defend herself. Nevertheless, if there's a situation that she feels the action is right, she's also not averse to using her powers or her body to defend someone else. She doubts such a situation will arise, however, as she's very reluctant to see other Magi as friends.

Background: Marley and her very scientific family resided in the woods in the state of Georgia for much of her life. Her parents both worked at a university a little while away, but they enjoyed small towns and more rural landscapes, and thus lived far out from any cities. Much of Marley’s childhood was spent exploring the woods and playing in dirt with her twin younger brothers. For her sixth birthday, her grandparents gifted her with a telescope, and from that point on, Marley was in love with the night sky. She spent hours reading books about astronomy, plastering star charts on her bedroom walls, and drawing constellations all over her homework assignments. The stars were comforting to her, knowing there was so much energy and life out in the universe. However, when she turned 15, she found out her father got offered a professorship at a university across the country. Forced to pack up and move to the city of Norwood, Marley suddenly lost access to her favorite nighttime lights. Light pollution kept her from seeing much beyond Venus, some satellites, and the occasional sight of Orion. This distressed her and did not improve her already very prevalent anxiety about moving into the city and to a state that she had never seen and did not know anything about. She missed her stars and would spend a lot of time staring at her star charts, wondering if she’d get to see them again.

Other:

    -      Marley’s the oldest of three, with twin brothers who are a year younger than her.

    -      She has a faint country accent that gets worse as she gets distressed. She tries very hard to hide it so people won’t make fun of her but she’s not sure it works.

    -      Her favorite constellation is Andromeda.

    -      Her favorite game is Animal Crossing: Wild World because you get to make your own constellations
